Actually how can you disagree with him? If failing the conditioning run is actually the case.
The guy just got a big hefty contract if he sticks with the team and hes going to come in here out of shape?
That is a black mark in my book.
Washington's contract is only "hefty" if he makes it beyond the first year.

I heard on Sirius NFL radio this morning that the reason Washington was on the PUP was because he initially failed the conditioning run. Based on the conversation (they were talking about the difference between being medically healthy to return and in football shape and how the Pats require their players to pass the conditioning run to be healthy enough to play), I don't know if it was speculation or a statement of fact (or at least statement of sources). It would make sense since he was only on the PUP for one day.
If Washington did in fact fail the conditioning run, that is yet another black mark on his less than stellar beginning with the Patriots. Again assuming this is the case, he is starting to look like another David Terrell - a failed reclaimation project.
Here is a quote from Breer/Tomase posted on Wednesday July 25:
SOME MORE: As of last night, no deal was imminent with the unsigned first-round pick Meriweather. He’s one of 27 such first-rounders, so that’s one reason not to worry. And here’s another: The Patriots have done a stellar job under Bill Belichick of getting their top picks into camp in time. We’ll look at that history this afternoon. … We’ve confirmed that WR Troy Brown, RB Justise Hairston, WR Chad Jackson, CB Eddie Jackson, S Mel Mitchell, DE Richard Seymour, TE David Thomas, aand WR Kelley Washington will start on the PUP. As a quick add-on to the story, the book’s not closed on the list yet. The team will hold its conditioning run tomorrow and, thereafter, it’s possible additions are made to the list.
Item 1: Kelley Washington was on the PUP list prior to Wednesday, July 25.
Item 2: Kelley Washington was taken off the PUP list on Wednesday, July 25, according to Reiss.
Item 3: The conditioning run was due to be held on Thursday, July 26.
Ergo: Washington could not have been put on the PUP list for failing the conditioning run.

Right, but PFW in Progress yesterday said that some players have already taken the run.

They ran a conditioning run for rookies and FA's BEFORE this next conditioning run which is being held for veterans.
Ergo: Washington could've failed the first conditioning run and ran a seperate one on his own before the next one with the veterans.

As pointed out, they already had the rookie conditioning run which Washington was probably a part of. After you fail the conditioning run, you are usually given one shot a day to pass it. So it would fit into the timeline.
Veterans are due to report on the 25th and a physical is required by the league before a player can practice. The Pats require a conditioning run as a condition too. Since rookies have already reported and I think have done some light practicing to get ready, it is safe to assume the ones that are here already did their conditioning run.

Typically, you are given one shot a day to retake the test once you failed. So if Washington failed the rookie conditioning run, he could potentially have a couple attempts to pass again before the veterans run theirs.
Considering we will never get an answer out of the Pats, we can only speculate though.

Actually from listening to MrsB's podcast, she says that Dan Pires has basically said that THIS conditioning run is a lot different than in other years. That many have come to camp early to get that done...with today's being the sort of deadline, so to speak.
