Default I have officially lost touch with this forum

I have officially slacked off at slacking off.

I knew I wasn't posting and reading here as much lately as normal, but how does the whole Tom Casale outing occur without me even noticing for 3 days?

I hats off to all those that did the Sherlock Holmes thing... I'm not worthy! I am also impressed by the way the moderators and the ever classy Ian handled things when he did finally fess up. I, too, think he should be given another chance.

One of the hardest things I have ever done was apologize to Airman Oddell for engaging in talking behind his back. Everyone was doing it... his actions had invited it - after all. Imagine everyone's suprise when Oddell walked right by the door and overheard us much of the hurtfull things we had said. He walked away... probably profoundly hurt. A dead silence filled the room. Most went back to work or tried to justify their earlier remarks.

Later that night I saw Oddell. I began to talk to him and it was clear he wanted to pretend that it had never happenned. Do you know how easy it would have been for me too... to do just pretend it never happened. I wanted to with every ounce of my being. But Oddell deserved more than that. I admitted to taking part in it and told him that I was wrong for doing it. He didn't deserve it and it was a reflection upon my own shortcomings, not his. I asked him for his forgiveness. I could see that what I said meant a great deal to him. All he said was "I forgive you. This, not what happened earlier, shows what kind of character you have."

I will never forget that moment in my life. We all make mistakes, but we don't always own up to our mistakes.

Some have suggested that Tom is only sorry because he got caught. Well, I got caught too. I could have chosen the easy route but didn't and it meant a lot to Oddell that I didn't. Tom Casale could have chosen the easy route too (other have outlined how he could have taken the easy route). ...but he didn't take the easy route. Do we have the kind of character that Oddell had? Can we forgive even if the person may not deserve it? I hope so.

I guess I'm alone in actually liking Tom Casale. He is a meat and potato football guy who loves the sport. He can't even keep himself off this forum, despite the fact everyone is knocking him. I actually appreciated the Allison Loves Brady info. It was the missing link in much of the problems experienced by C. Jackson last year, immaturity. That immaturity was reflected in Brady's recent comments applauding the new veteran receivers brought in this off-season. As Pats fans we should have appreciated the fact Casale was finding a way to provide otherwise censored info. We don't work for the Krafts, we're fans, and I'll take info any way I can get it. So Casale came on the site under aliases to promote his product. I actually find that amusing. So did Tyler Faith! The sad part is, Casale is the kind of nuts and bolts football reporter this market is lacking, and should be embraced by Pats fans. He actually knows the sport inside and out and cares about it. He apologized for his frat boy tactics and IMO those so mortally offended should dial down the outrage. Apologizing on a public forum is never easy for a well-known figure who can stand to lose something, namely his job. I enjoy reading Mrs. B, and she gets a ton of justified praise for her efforts. The fact one guy needles her shouldn't be enough to dissuade her from doing what she loves, and I'm sure it won't.

PS. What would have been really cool is if the Moderators had cultivated an under the table relationship with Casale, who could have provided further inside info on the QT. Instead, by publicly outing him and humiliating him, we all lost our best and only chance to have a mole inside Pats HQ. Congratulations.

He only apologized because he knew he was screwed and that info. would have been released anyways. It was actually a smart move, but it was not sincere.

He's a moron for doing what he did, and trying to come back and do it again when he probably knew that the mods knew who he was, but it's not like he just came out and said "im sorry" out of nowhere.

He had to be caught first. Shmessy was on top of it and pretty much told him he knew that it was Tom Casale. The only card Tom can play at that point is to come clean and say "im sorry". Otherwise the info. will be released, and this will jeopardize his job, his image, etc.

Lets not confuse sincerity with desperation.

I was not going to respond to your post. But that last sentence is beyond absurd. You have no idea of what you are talking about or what has transpired on "the QT".

Let me just say this for others. The situation was handled fairly, effectively, and to the satisfaction of everyone invloved, including Tom.

Let it die!!! Please.

I think T-ShirtDynasty explained that it was not just a case of him apologizing because he got caught. He could have weaseled out of it.

see post #79:

Situation regarding Tom Casale on this forum

summarized: T-shirtdynasty said in a similar situation, he might have cut and run instead of owning up to it.

In T-ShirtDynasty's words:

"I would have kept my mouth shut, let the mods that were chasing my IP addresses forget about me, and come back with a brand new username, and just behave myself. But he didn't take the chicken-**** route that I would have... he stood up and took account for his actions, admitted his assclownery, and apologized."

************

I think the guy should be forgiven. I guess I am just dragging up all the muck that settled on this issue. Sorry for that.

I thought a personal story might illustrate that it is not easy to come clean, especially when there are other EASIER alternatives. I thought what he did showed great character. Everyone makes mistakes.

How do you know he was our "best" and "only" mole inside Pats HQ?

He was just the only who used multiple posternames and attacked journalist competitors.

.......but thanks for playing, PonyExpress.
