......admittedly by me (even though I did complain about it at the time).
Why didn't the Pats stick more than two weeks last year with the Klecko experiment at ILB? He wasn't going to make it on the DL, no way. Even in the PS this year, we were thin at ILB.
What? Marquise Hill was such an important roster spot? BB has now spent 3 full seasons developing the Hill Project, he couldn't spend more than two weeks developing Klecko as an ILB?
As it turns out, this was a huge mistake. Both on ST's and ILB (at least for depth) we should have held onto Klecko and let Hill go or put LeKevin Smith on practice squad.

I agree about Hill. I have never seen that guy look like an NFL player. Even in preseason he looks slow and uncoordinated, but he gets blown off the ball whenever they throw him into live games.
But Klecko I don't think it was a mistake. I distinctly remember Harrison pounding the turf after a play in a 2004 preseason game when Klecko obviously screwed up in converage. I'm sure that he wouldn't have had overflowing frustration like that if it were a single mistake so I have to believe that Klecko just didn't have a good feel for the position.

Yeah, but that was his first or second preseason game at that position. Couldn't they have tutored him for a year or two, instead of the waste of space Hill has been for three years?
All we heard over and over from the coaches is that he was extremely smart and had a great motor. His instincts at that position could have come over 12-24 months. If they stuck with him as an understudy there from PS 2005, he'd very well would be blooming right now.
Instead we have the human cul-de-sac 2nd round bench warmer in Marquise Hill. Three years and he can't even get on the field in his own position. I know he came out of LSU early, but really.

Again, just because one guy was a mistake does not mean that the other was.
I agree that Hill is bad and their is no evidence that he will ever be any good, but there is also no reason to believe that Klecko would have even done anything either. I think that, if you drop the name Klecko it will make a little more sense.
Klecko, Bethel, Cedric Cobbs ... ou sont les neiges d'antan?

I respect your opinion and enjoy your posts, Oswlek. However, we KNOW Hill is a bust. The fact that we had no evidence yet that Klecko would be a bust doesn't mean we couldn't have cut bait on the known bust and tried out the "potential" bust. Personally, I'd keep the "potential" bust and cut the "known" bust.

How you like our ILB situation right about now? How's the depth behind those two who are playing in pain/retirement rumors?
That has nothing to do with it, if he wasn't any good it doesn't matter what our depth is. Hell, I'll be happy to collect a game check and line up at inside linebacker, doesn't mean it's wise.
I'm sure Belichick could see that it just wasn't going to work. Again, using me as an example, I could practice at ILB for 10 years and I still wouldn't be able to play the position.
