Default Will the jets scoop us on Richard Marshall?

With all this talk about the Patriots and Richard Marshall being such a perfect match - and of the Pats rumored interest in the Bull Dog DB - I think it is not unlikely that a team like the jets has an eye on taking him ahead of us.

Obviously, LOTS of teams know about the guy, the Patriots have not cornered the market on identifying the less heralded talent - and obviously Mangini isn't just going to make kneejerk moves based on what he thinks his mentor might do.

I just think it's one of those things where the new jet regime might be a bit more anxious to step in and take a guy that Belichick likes. Not to the point of blindly saying "Well if BILL likes him, then he'd be perfect for us!" but something along those lines.

Unless the Jets value him as high as 4th overall in the draft, they will have to hope that he gets past Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta. I read on scout.com that those teams all have interest in him and he's scheduled to meet with them in the coming weeks.
They now have the 29th pick in the draft after trading with Denver so they could easily trade up to get him.

They can scoop all they want, I like CB and I like Marshall but he's not what I'm looking for in Round 1. I'm OK with Hobbs, Gay, Samuel and Scott at CB. We can still draft a CB a little later. I want one of the LB Trifecta (Greenway, Carpenter, Lawson) to fill an actual need in Round 1.

They dont need a CB. Dyson is replacing Law. Barret started at #2 last yr. and they like Miller.

Teams can try to outguess the Pats, but if they take a player they don't need per se..it is NOT smart..

I'm not sure of the source of all this supposed interest in Marshall, it seems we all like him simply because he's from Fresno State, and we seem to have a very recent affinity for Fresno players. Marshall is a talented guy, don't get me wrong, and if he managed to fall to us in round 2 I'd be screaming to pick him up, but he's not a top 20 prospect. As far as cornerbacks go, there are at least 4-5 guys (Williams, Hill, Cromartie, Joseph, Yobouti) almost universally rated higher than Marshall.

I didn't mean Marshall in the 1st, I meant in the 2nd or 3rd.

Good

I actually think there's a 50-50 chance he'll be there for our #2 pick. I think we'll take a TE if one of the 2nd round TE is there but Marshall would be a solid consideration too.
