Default I thought Capers was just a DC in waiting here

I thought that this year was Pees last season here as DC unless his group was impressive enough for BB to keep him and that the only reason BB signed Capers as assistant HC was to keep him on the staff and out of the running for teams looking for a DC once this season was over and I expected a move to send Dom over to replace Pees in 2009

Apparently it has not happened the way I expected,It looks as if the Packers are VERY interested in signing Capers as DC as he is being interviewed today and BB apparently thinks Pees has done a good enough job to keep him in charge especially since the injury riddled defense held together all season.

Usually when you guess on something you think the team has planned,BB proves you are not in synch with his mind,I was not here as well.

Did any of you wanted to see Capers move down to DC and send Pees out?

I think Capers was not made to be a head coach but has been a great DC when he was in charge of that position.

Honestly, if Pees does a good enough job for BB, he does a good enough job for me.

And, as I have read recently, if a person is ready to advance, and cannot advance in the Patriots organization, they will help him advance elsewhere.

So, if Capers wants (and is ready) to be a DC, and they don't want to unseat Pees, then that's that.

Capers was not signed as "assistant HC"; he was signed as a secondary coach and a "defensive assistant" or something like that. Dante has been assistant head coach since BB got here.

I don't think Pees is disliked by Belichick nearly as much as he is by the fans. His defenses have actually put up good numbers, comparable to those of Crennell. What we need is another ball hawk DB like we had in Law and Samuel. Wheatley has that potential, unfortunately he lost some development time this past season.

No, his title was Special Assistant/Secondary.

I always was under the impression Bill was doing Capers a favor and also Capers would be here a year or 2 at most.

Outside of the DL, our defense is swiss cheese, personnel wise. What else is Pees supposed to do? I think they've performed well.
