While the hope was probably that he’d end up back in New England to try and finish what he started, it’s likely a little tough for Bailey Zappe not to be sitting there wondering, “what if?” as he looks back on what he’s accomplished heading into his second season in the NFL.

The New England Patriots needed to cut down to 53 players on Tuesday, which left the club with some difficult decisions as they did their best to try and solidify areas of need at the expense of a couple of key names.

With the Patriots having to making roster cutdowns ahead of the 2023 regular season, here’s a look at the players who were let go as the club got down to its 53-man roster limit on Tuesday.

The New England Patriots made a surprise move on Tuesday, waiving back up quarterback, Bailey Zappe, as the club begins paring down its roster to 53 players.

According to several reports, the New England Patriots have parted ways with place kicker Nick Folk, sending him to the Titans in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.

As the New England Patriots continue working toward getting down to their 53-man roster by 4pm ET today, it sounds like they’re potentially exploring another trade.

I know tackles are needed because of injury/illness, but I wasn’t a fan of trading Pierre Strong after just one season.

One of the biggest stories this preseason has been the New England Patriots situation at wide receiver, which now may appear to have an additional wrinkle to consider heading into the final roster cutdown.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New England Patriots struck a deal with the Cleveland Browns to bring in offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr on Sunday.

Mapu’s speed, athleticism, and physicality were evident. He did a nice job of covering the tight end in the end zone, forcing an incompletion

Heading into the New England Patriots final preseason contest, Bailey Zappe really needed to go out on a high note heading into the season, but that, unfortunately, didn’t happen.

The Patriots rested their starters in the final Pre-season loss to the Tennessee Titans.  The heat was brutal with a game time temp near 100o and the on-field temp was 110o. 

Bailey Zappe was the quarterback for most of the evening for the New England Patriots, and he was never able to get anything going all night long.

Offensive lineman Mike Onwenu reportedly took part in practice on a limited basis on Wednesday, marking the first time this preseason he’s been able to participate.

With roster cutdowns looming for the New England Patriots less than a week from now, the team will certainly have some difficult decisions to make.
