One big story this week was the future of New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers, who was set to appear in court on Wednesday, with his jury trial set to happen this week following his arrest last fall.

Peppers, who signed an extension with the Patriots last offseason, is set to face charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, along with allegedly being in possession of cocaine.

The veteran safety was set to appear in court in Quincy, Massachusetts, but according to ESPN, apparently a water main break caused the courthouse to be closed on Wednesday.

The trial has instead been rescheduled for Thursday.

The outcome of this case certainly has some serious implications for Peppers, at least given owner Robert Kraft’s comments.

Kraft said back in October during an appearance on 105.1’s The Breakfast Club that “if what is reported is true, he’s gone.”

How the trial turns out will likely decide Peppers’ future.  For now, he has at least another day until things moves forward.
