When you’re 3-13 heading into the final weekend of the season, it probably shouldn’t be surprising that you don’t garner much attention when the NFL decides to make its Pro Bowl selections.

The NFL announced its Pro Bowl roster for 2025 on Thursday, with the New England Patriots seeing at least one of their players recognized to represent them.

Special teams standout Brenden Schooler has made the AFC’s roster, with Schooler putting together another solid season on special teams for the Patriots.  However, Schooler has taken things one step further after seeing time on defense in 2024.  He’s come up with a handful of big tackles along with two sacks, with Mayo and his staff putting him out there in some key situations.

As he has on special teams, he’s stepped up when they’ve needed him to, and the league clearly took notice.

Meanwhile, one key name that was ignored was Christian Gonzalez, who was snubbed after putting up a fairly solid sophomore campaign.

He finished this season with a team-high 11 passes defended and two interceptions, along with 59 tackles.

His 11 passes defended have him tied for the 7th highest total in that category in the NFL with Denver’s Patrick Surtain, while his 50 tackle total also puts him among the top in that same group.

However, the Patriots haven’t gotten much of a look from a national standpoint, and Gonzalez’s efforts appear to have been overlooked, which is unfortunate.

For now, congratulations to Schooler, who was one of the few bright spots on a team that didn’t have very many this season.

As for Gonzalez, his status for Sunday remains up in the air after he missed Wednesday’s practice with a concussion he suffered in last Sunday’s loss to the Chargers.
