For the second consecutive start to February, quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement, but this time, it appears there is no coming back.

The future Hall of Famer shared a short video across all of his social media accounts delivering the news on Wednesday.

“I’ll get to the point right away,” Brady said. “I’m retiring. For good.”

“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first,” Brady continued “I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.”

According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Brady informed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of his decision at 6 a.m. ET Wednesday.

“My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors — I could go on forever, there’s too many,” Brady went on to say. “Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”

After 23 pro seasons, Brady walks away leading almost every major passing statistical category from yards (89,214) to touchdowns (649) and game-winning drives in the playoffs with 14.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion won’t remain out of the public eye long however, he’s expected to join FOX Sports as a football color commentator after agreeing to a 10-year, $375 million contract this past summer.

In the hours that followed Brady’s announcement, the NFL community shared their reactions across social media.
