Coming off their worst defeat of the season, the Patriots looked to get back on track in a pivotal divisional matchup with the New York Jets on Sunday in the Meadowlands.

After playing just three series against the Bears a week ago, quarterback Mac Jones completed his first full game since his return from an ankle injury. Although not his sharpest, Jones threw his first touchdown pass since Week 2. He finished the day 24/35 for 194 yards with a touchdown and interception but sacked a career-high six times.

Positives on offense saw running back Rhamondre Stevenson continue to bully opposing defenses. Stevenson led all rushers with 71 yards on 16 carries while adding seven receptions for 72 yards to lead all receivers. Both were career highs for the second-year back.

On defense, safety Devin McCourty recorded his third career multi-interception day during his North Jersey homecoming. He is three picks shy of tying Ty Law and Raymond Clayborn for the most in franchise history.

“We needed it,” McCourty said postgame. “It’s tough — you go out there at home and you get booed and you don’t really show up in any phase of the game. It was ugly for us. Chicago whupped us. We had to fast forward.”

As for special teams, kicker Nick Folk continued to be consistent in 2022. Folk tied his career high in field goals made with five, contributing 16 points in total.

The win moves Bill Belichick into second place on the NFL head coach all-time wins list, passing George Halas and now 22 behind Don Shula for the most.

“I’ll have a thought on that when it’s over,” Belichick said of his milestone “Add ’em up in the end. It’s good to come down here and win. Happy for our team. I appreciate all the great players that have won those games.”
