As the New England Patriots get set for what should be a tough battle with the Baltimore Ravens, it sounds like the status of one of their key players could be in question.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jakobi Meyers reportedly didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice and underwent tests due to an apparent knee injury.

Rapoport reports that the tests “showed nothing significant” and Meyers’ status for Sunday’s game will be determined later in the week.

Meyers is currently the team leader in both receptions and yards, having totaled 13 receptions on 19 targets for 150-yards through two games.  He’s also the team’s leading receiver on 3rd down, with Mac Jones connecting with Meyers on 6-of-9 attempts for 102 yards and 5 first downs, with 4 of those receptions (and 3 first downs) coming during Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh.

He reportedly suffered the injury during the preseason in New England’s final exhibition game against the Raiders back on August 26th and was also limited ahead of the season opener in Miami.  However, Meyers played in 99% of the offensive snaps against the Dolphins (74/75) and 82% of the snaps (56/68) against the Steelers.

Should Meyers be unable to go, it’s likely Kendrick Bourne would potentially be the one who would see more targets, while Lil’Jordan Humphrey could also see additional snaps.

The veteran receiver was the team’s leading receiver in New England’s previous meeting against Baltimore, with Meyers finishing the game with 5 catches on 7 targets for 59-yards from then quarterback Cam Newton, as well as throwing a 24-yard touchdown pass to Rex Burkhead on a double pass play during the club’s 23-17 win over the Ravens back on November 15, 2020.
