ICYMI: Adam Butler Says Goodbye To New England After Signing Free Agent Deal With Dolphins
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports
On Wednesday, The Miami Dolphins agreed to terms on a two-year free agent contract with former New England Patriots defensive tackle Adam Butler. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Butler’s deal is worth up to $9.5 million.
The move reunites Butler with Brian Flores, who previously served as an assistant coach under Bill Belichick for ten seasons before becoming head coach of the Dolphins in 2019.
An undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt University in 2017, Butler recorded 15 sacks, 96 total tackles (54 solo), nine passes defensed and one forced fumble during his four-year tenure in New England. Butler missed just one regular season game due to injury over that span and helped the Patriots reach two Super Bowls, winning one in 2018.
Following signing with the Dolphins, Butler shared a goodbye message to Patriots fans and the organization over Instagram.
