Ever since his drafting by the New England Patriots 23rd overall out of Michigan in 1995, cornerback Ty Law went on to become one of football’s premiere cornerbacks over the next two decades.
During his Patriots tenure from 1995-2004, Law contributed to four Super Bowl runs, winning three rings, and earning four of his five Pro Bowl invites in that span.
Additionally, Law led the NFL in interceptions twice and earned two first-team All-Pro honors (1998, 2003).
In 15 professional seasons spanning four teams, Law compiled 838 tackles, 169 pass deflections, 53 interceptions, and seven defensive touchdowns.
Law’s career defending pass catchers would earn himself a gold jacket and a bust in Canton, OH as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. He is also a member of the Patriots Hall of Fame and the franchises All-1990’s and All 2000’s teams.
“Ty Law was a pain in the ass,” teammate Tom Brady wrote in a Hall of Fame endorsement letter back in 2019.
“Early in my career, while Ty was in the prime of his career, I competed against him every day in practice. We were both highly competitive and those daily battles were always combative. I can remember how upset I would get when I would make a mistake in practice and Ty would capitalize on it. Looking back, I realize how lucky I was then to be challenged every day by one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever play the game. It helped me work harder to become successful in this league and ultimately prepared me to become the player I am today.”
On Thursday, the “NFL Throwback” Twitter account shared a highlight reel from Law’s career.
