Earlier this week, Bishop Feehan High School (Attleboro, MA) senior and varsity hockey player A.J. Quetta was seriously injured during a game Tuesday after crashing headfirst into the boards. He is currently being treated for a spinal cord injury at Massachusetts General Hospital.

According to Quetta’s sister, he “might not be able to move his body again” as a result of his injury.

In the days that have followed Quetta’s accident, his family setup a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical expenses.

On Thursday, New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung shared Quetta’s story and made a personal donation.

“This is AJ Quetta. He got into a Tragic incident on the ice that will change his life. I couldn’t imagine as a parent having to deal with this.” Chung wrote on Instagram.

“Crushes my heart man. His go fund me link is in my bio. Whatever you can do to help with medical bills etc. $10, $20, sh*t $1 is good, anything from all the people that follow me and have some kind of heart. I’ve donated my thousands.”

The support didn’t stop there. On Thursday, Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft called into WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” to announce he would match all donations up to $25,000 sent in via The Greg Hill Foundation.

As of this posting, Quetta’s GoFundMe page has more than $650,000 and The Greg Hill Foundation has raised over $140,000.

“The outpouring of support is incredible,” said Anthony Quetta, Sr on GoFundMe Friday. “People have been unbelievable and my wife Nicole and I are grateful. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and first responders for their extraordinary efforts to help our son. We can’t thank everyone enough for all the heartfelt messages of support. At this time, we would appreciate everyone understanding of our family’s privacy. Thank you again for keeping AJ in your prayers.”

Bishop Feehan High School president Tim Sullivan called into WEEI on Friday to provide an update on Quetta’s condition.

“They asked me to share a message from them. A.J. is at MGH. He did have his first surgery, and Mr. and Mrs. Quetta told me it went very well,” Sullivan said. “It was a successful surgery. They’re feeling really good about that.

“The most important thing they asked me to share is that they are ‘forever in the debt’ — that’s their quote — of everyone, you, your show, your listeners, everyone from around the country now that’s supporting A.J. and them. Mrs. Quetta said it absolutely helps. It’s made the last two days, I don’t know what word she used, it probably wasn’t bearable, but better.”

As Quetta faces a long road to recovery, “A.J’s Army” continues to grow across New England and the country.

From everyone at PatsFans, our prayers are with the Quetta family during this time. Stay strong A.J.
