Patriots Out of the Mix For Stafford After Lions Trade Him and Acquire Goff in Deal With Rams
Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports
For any fans hoping to see Matt Stafford start for the Patriots in 2021, it appears you can cross that off your list.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions have reportedly reached an agreement with the Rams to send Stafford to the West Coast, ending his tenure in Detroit.
Schefter reports that the deal is in exchange for two future first-round picks, a third-round pick, along with quarterback Jared Goff, citing sources.
Goff being included in the deal is a surprise, but given that the Lions would now need a quarterback, it at least gives them a pretty good player to hopefully help them turn things around in 2021.
The Patriots were considered among the top teams to acquire Stafford but it appears they’ll now have to turn their attention elsewhere after the news of this surprising deal.
