PHOTO: Rex Burkhead Shares Update On His Health, Undergoes Successful Surgery On Knee
Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports
On Thursday, New England Patriots running back shared an update on his health over social media.
In a posting to Instagram, Burkhead said he is “on the road to recovery” after “successful surgery” on Tuesday.
Two weeks ago against the Houston Texans, Burkhead sustained a knee injury that placed him on season ending injured reserve.
The official injury diagnosis remains unknown at this time, but the Patriots “feared” a torn ACL according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic after the game.
Speaking with the media Wednesday afternoon, teammate James White discussed the absence of Burkhead in the running back room.
“We’re doing all right, man. Lot of ups and downs, whether injuries and things of that nature. It sucks still not having Rex here,” White said. “Like I said before, he was having a great year and just sucks to see a guy like that go down. Just trying to stay afloat man. Just keep working hard, cheering for one another, making sure we’re doing everything we can to protect ourselves, protect our bodies to be the best performers we can be out there.”
