Over the weekend, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman shared a curious image over his social media accounts.
Take a look for yourself.
“Hearing rumors about new jerseys…” Edelman wrote in a caption accompanying a photoshopped image of himself in a home Patriots jersey that was worn in the 1990’s and their run to Super Bowl XXXI.
The Patriots have not worn a throwback jersey since 2012 following a 2013 safety rule change that limits players to only being allowed to wear the same helmet for the season.
The classic red and white “Pat Patriot” jerseys of 1960-1992 would have to use the modern silver helmet colors and logo schemes as opposed to the original whites as a result.
The 1990’s jersey’s would work for game usage because they share the same helmet design and color scheme as today.
So far no official word of a uniform addition has been announced by the team.
Stay tuned…
