Following a 15 year NFL career across five teams, tight end Benjamin Watson formally announced his retirement over social media Monday.

Take a read at his lengthy statement in an Instagram slideshow below.

The 32nd overall pick in the 2004 Draft out of Georgia, Watson spent the first six years of his professional career in New England as a Patriot, winning his only Super Bowl as a rookie in 2004.

Watson walks away having played 205 career games, hauling in 547 career receptions with 44 touchdowns.

After leaving the Patriots following the 2009 season, Watson made stops in Cleveland, New Orleans, Baltimore, New Orleans again, then came out of retirement for one final season back with the Patriots last year.

Although a highly productive offensive player in New England, his most memorable moment may always be his run down of Champ Bailey in the 2005 AFC Divisional round preventing a pick-six touchdown.

Watson shared individual photo’s from every team he played for, he chose his game winning touchdown against the Bills as the Patriots memory.

Watson won’t be short on work, as a father of seven he’ll be plenty busy.
