Tom Brady and Stephon Gilmore Named Patriots Pro Bowl Selections
On Tuesday, the NFL announced that quarterback Tom Brady and cornerback Stephon Gilmore were selected to the 2019 Pro Bowl.
2018 marks the fewest Patriots selected to the Pro Bowl since 2008.
Brady’s selection marked the 14th time in his 19-year career. It is his 10th consecutive selection to the Pro Bowl.
Through 14 games, Brady has passed for 3,979 yards and 24 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
Brady joins Tony Gonzalez (14), Peyton Manning (14), Bruce Matthews (14) and Merlin Olsen (14) as the only NFL players with at least 14 Pro Bowl selections.
2018 has been a year of milestones for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
This season, Brady became the NFL’s all-time leader in touchdown passes, passing yards, and total yards in the regular season and playoffs combined. He also became the fourth quarterback in league history to reach 500 regular-season touchdown passes and 70,000 passing yards.
Gilmore earned his second career Pro Bowl and first since signing with the Patriots. Gilmore has started all 14 games this season at cornerback.
He’s registered 41 tackles, his first career sack and two interceptions so far this season. He also leads the team and ranks second in the NFL with 18 passes defensed.
Gilmore reflected on his successful season on Instagram Tuesday.
