New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman continues to work his way back from last seasons torn ACL, but encountered what appeared to be a minor scare during practice on Monday.
Both ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss and The Athletic’s Jeff Howe noticed something was off.
Julian Edelman didn't appear to be going full tilt on final 2 reps of 11-on-11 work, as something seemed to be holding him back. Given his relentless style of play, it stood out as something to file away & follow up on Tuesday. He signed autographs but didn't hold planned presser

Julian Edelman led the Patriots each of the past two days with 4 connections with Brady in team drills and is looking more like himself of late. Now has 15 catches in camp, one behind Hogan for team lead.
Edelman dinged up his lower leg late today, though. Shook it off a bit.

Some clarification was provided by NBC Sports Boston’s Mike Giardi as to what happened.
Julian Edelman had an active day, including some punt returns. Later in practice, he caught a crossing route from Brady and got tangled up with Eric Rowe. For several plays afterward, JE11 flexed that right leg. (Same leg he had ACL)

It remains unclear what specifically occurred to his leg, as Edelman cancelled his media availability once practice was over, but he did share an Instagram photograph later in the day with the caption “Adjust & Adapt” that may be hinting at the near injury and how he’s going to approach working with his leg moving forward to prevent any more.
