On Monday, the New England Patriots formally released wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell.
Taking to his Instagram account last night, Mitchell thanked the Patriots and fans for their support during his tenure.
“New England, thank you! My heart hurts, but I smile when thinking about all the love, support and patience you have given me. To the community this is not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later. Go Pats!”

During his Tuesday morning press conference, head coach Bill Belichick had the following to say about the decision to release the wideout; “He did everything he could. It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out…I don’t know how he could have put in any more than he did.”
Mitchell ends his Patriots career with four touchdowns and 32 receptions with 401 receiving yards but will be remembered most for his six receptions for 70 yards during the Patriots Super Bowl LI championship comeback.
