La Canfora: “Very Real Chance” Patriots May See Bennett Debut Sunday Night
Scott Galvin - USA TODAY Sports
The return of Martellus Bennett was one of the more exciting stories this week and while the initial signs seemed to a potential appearance next weekend against Oakland, it appears we could see him a little sooner than expected.
According to FoxSports’ Jason La Canfora, there appears to be a “Very real chance” the veteran tight end could suit up as soon as Sunday night when the Patriots battle the Broncos out in Denver.

This wouldn’t come as a shock given that Bennett already had a full season in this offense last season during the team’s championship run, which would certainly help with his ability to pick the offense back up so quickly. If New England can get him started this soon, it would certainly be a great for a group that will be without Chris Hogan heading into their showdown against the Broncos Sunday night in Denver.
It’s been an interesting week for Bennett. After being waived by Green Bay for an undisclosed injury, which was later learned to be a torn rotator cuff, Bennett fired back with some harsh words from the Packers’ medical staff.

The good news for Patriots fans is, despite his ailment, it appears it won’t slow him down here in New England.
Bennett’s production last season ended up being key behind their Super Bowl run, especially after the loss of Rob Gronkowski. Bennett finished the regular season with 55 receptions for 701 yards and a team-leading 7 touchdowns during the regular season.
