Amendola Spotted on Crutches After Win Over Rams

🕑 Read Time: 1 minutes

Rookie Cyrus Jones had difficulty fielding punts on Sunday against the Rams, and while the Patriots didn’t lose the football on his miscue, they may have lost something a bit more important.

Veteran receiver Danny Amendola replaced Jones returning kicks on Sunday against Los Angeles and suffered a reported ankle injury after being taken down late in the contest.

At the time, Amendola hobbled off the field but immediately headed to the locker room, and was later downgraded to “Out” for the remainder of the game.

Following the win, the 201st career victory for Tom Brady, Boston Herald reporter Karen Guregian spotted Amendola on crutches and in a walking boot, which is bad news for a team that just lost Rob Gronkowski to a season-ending back injury, and are also dealing with both Martellus Bennett and Julian Edelman gutting their way through their own injuries.

Hopefully Amendola’s loss will be a short one, as with four games to go, losing Amendola stings since the Patriots can ill-afford to lose another playmaker in an offense that’s about to face the Ravens, Broncos, Jets and Dolphins over the next four weeks.  To make matters worse, three of those games are on the road (Ravens, Broncos and Dolphins) as the team begins making a run at trying to get the top seed in the Conference.
