Gronkowski’s Season Comes to an End, Officially Placed on IR
Kevin Jairaj - USA TODAY Sports
Rob Gronkowski’s injury against the Jets and subsequent report of back surgery left many people wondering what the future might have held for the veteran tight end in terms of a possible heroic return in January (or February), but it appears we now know the answer.
ESPN’s Field Yates reported on Saturday that the team is placing Gronkowski on injured reserve, which will end any chance he might have had to return in the postseason.
Gronkowski posted a picture on Instagram this afternoon as he walked through the hall at the hospital with a walker, and seemed pretty upbeat as he begins his rehab.
Unfortunately for now, the work he’s putting in now won’t be realized until at least 2017. As for his teammates, they’re on to the Rams.
