Mohamed Sanu

Sanu is the wide receiver most linked to the Patriots this off-season and the member of the Bengals had a disappointing 2015 catching only 33 passes for 394 yards and zero touchdowns…sound familiar Mr. LaFell?

But Sanu is versatile, something Bill Belichick covets in his players, he can line up both outside or in the slot. He’s a different slot receiver as he’s bigger than most at 6’2 and would present a bigger target that either Edelman or Amendola. He can also rush the ball on the Jet sweep and can throw the double pass.

Oh and he was a member of the Rutgers football team that the Patriots always seem to show love for….sign him up now! Sanu shouldn’t break the bank in terms of salary cap hit so that wouldn’t be an issue.

Sanu is only 26 and will turn 27 around the end of training camp in late August so his best days should still be in front of him. He’s versatile, fast and underrated. But he had the luxury of playing with A.J. Green and Marvin Jones so opponents would focus on stopping them first. So what could be the catch here? It may be an either/or situation.

When looking at Sanu’s fit, he’s going to be either in the slot or the “Z” position. That is where Edelman and Amendola are already. So if they bring him in, unless they have another area specifically in mind for his abilities, then that may mean that Amendola is out.

Sanu is an intriguing player and could be a nice fit for this offense. Belichick will have to a role in mind for him and the money will have to be right as well. Next up is another wide receiver wearing tiger stripes…
