With Saturday’s win over the Chiefs now in the rear-view mirror and a trip to the AFC Championship game locked up, the league released the playing time totals from both teams, and here’s a quick rundown of the snap counts for the Patriots on both sides of the football from yesterday’s game:

Quick Thoughts: In his first game back Edelman went full-throttle, missing just seven snaps against Kansas City and caught 10 passes after being targeted 16 times by Brady, reaching the 100-yard plateau after making the game-clinching reception for a first down on a pass that bounced off Gronkowski that he snatched out of the air.
– For a week that was filled with speculation about his health, Gronkowski missed just six snaps and played well, with his quickness on the move he made late in the game for a touchdown showing that he was healthy enough to help his team advance to the AFC Championship game. He caught two touchdowns, bringing his career playoff total to eight career postseason TD receptions, a new franchise record and a new all-time record in the postseason by a tight end. Oh, and by the way, he’s only 26 years old.
– Rookie Malcolm Brown played in 61% of the plays on defense Saturday and not only did he see a lot of playing time, he had a solid game. He was disruptive inside and finished the day with five tackles, and it’s impressive to see a rookie like him still playing at a high-level at this time of year considering how so many first-year players tend to hit a wall late in the season.
– After a difficult week, Chandler Jones played in about half the number of snaps compared to his normal workload, but still started the game. He finished the day with four tackles, a sack, and a big forced fumble that lead to a huge touchdown by Gronkowski that put the Patriots firmly in control of the game after they went up 21-6 with just over eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. Jones left the game late in the game with what Mike Reiss reported was an unspecified injury, which will be something to monitor this week.
