OPENING STATEMENT:

Well, we had a real competitive game here today.  We had our chances, but in the end, just couldn’t quite make enough plays.  So give the Jets credit.  It’s a good football team, well-coached, did a good job. We just came up a little bit short today.

On why they elected to kick at the beginning of overtime:

Because we thought that was the best thing to do.

On what this specific instructions to Matthew Slater because it seemed like there was some confusion…

Not going to repeat them.

On how much time they spent on the sidelines discussing what they should do:

I don’t know.

On his thoughts on the offensive line’s performance after Sebastian Vollmer went down with an injury:

Obviously the Jets are good defensive team.  We didn’t really do much offensively, we had 200 yards probably halfway through the fourth quarter.  Didn’t stop the run very well, didn’t move the ball very well, couldn’t score. Just didn’t do enough things to win.

On any regrets on the call in overtime:

No, we got a pass interference penalty on third down, we got the stop, we got the ball back where we wanted it.  And then we get beat on…we got picked, beat on two flag patterns, so just didn’t play good enough defense either.

On if it’s a case where he looked at the tenor of the game and decided the defense was playing a little better than the offense:

Looking at field position.

On the last possession of the first half and the decision not to use their timeouts:

Yeah, we didn’t have very good field position.  We had the ball to start the second half, so we took it there.

On what he saw on the long completion to Enunwa:

What did I see on what?

On what he saw on the long completion to Enunwa, the big play in overtime:

He ran a simple ‘D’ slant and we got picked, ran into each other, gave up a long play.  I mean, it was second and I don’t know, eight, whatever it was.  I mean, they were throwing a short pass to try and get to 3rd and short, I imagine … and [we] ran into each other.

On the fact it seemed like there may have been some confusion during the coin toss with Matthew Slater:

There wasn’t any confusion.  I just answered that same question.  There was no confusion.

On if that was a decision he would have considered under the old system:

Look, I don’t know.  I’m not going to talk about hypothetical questions.

On his thoughts on how Steven Jackson played:

We’ll see.  [He] played a few plays.  Got started, we’ll see how it goes.

On his thoughts on Keshawn Martin’s performance:

I thought we competed hard.  I thought all our guys competed hard.  We’ve just got to coach better, play better, execute better.
