FOXBORO, MA — Fans may get the opportunity to see number one draft choice Richard Seymour on Sunday when the Patriots travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons.

Seymour has played in four games and recorded a total of 15 tackles, but he was inactive for the teams opening game against Cincinnati and was also inactive the last two weeks at Indianapolis and in Denver. According to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, Seymour appears ready to play this weekend.

“Seymour’s better,” said Belichick on Friday. “He’s unlike Willie [McGinest], because he hasn’t played in a couple of weeks. But he did a lot more in practice this week than he did last week, and he did a lot more last week than he had done the week before, so I think he’s headed in the right direction.”

“Provided we get through today without any problems, I think he’ll be able to play in the game. I’m not sure how long or what the duration will be, but I think he’ll definitely be active and be ready to contribute.

Meanwhile, the prognosis wasn’t quite as good for rookie left tackle Matt Light who had played well coming into last weekend, but he left the game with a shoulder injury and was listed as “questionable” when the team returned to practice on Wednesday. Belichick said the offensive tackle didn’t do anything on Wednesday and didn’t do much on Thursday either. Generally, if a player isn’t able to practice on Friday, he doesn’t make the trip.

Belichick said Friday that Light needed to get better in a hurry if he planned on making the trip to Atlanta.

“Light didn’t do much yesterday,” said Belichick. “He didn’t do anything on Wednesday, I’d say he’d need for things to turn around pretty quickly for him. I think he’s definitely feeling better than he did earlier in the week, but he’d need to make a real quick recovery here.”

If Light isn’t able to make the trip, Grant Williams will likely get the nod in his place since teammate Adrian Klemm still isn’t showing any sign of returning to the line-up any time soon.
