FOXBORO, MA — Two Owen Pochman field goals including one of 53 yards out gave New England the lead at the half 6-0 during their preseason opener at Foxboro Stadium.

The Patriots have suffered one setback, however, with wide receiver Torrance Small being carried off the field by his teammates with a leg injury.

Observations:

1) Damon Huard played extremely well and appears to be the back up New England needed in the event Bledsoe ever goes down with an injury.

2) Wide receiver David Patten made several receptions and showed good quickness

3) J.R. Redmond and Antowain Smith have run the ball well.

4) Grant Williams continued to struggle at the tackle position.
