Anyone know about this local guy? Could be a steal??
David Ball New Hampshire 6-2

Before UNH
• Lettered in basketball, football and track at Worcester Academy.
• Attended Spaulding High School.
• As a wide receiver, compiled 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns.
• Named all New England wide receiver.
• Played on the state championship basketball squad at Worcester.
• Was the high jump champ from 2001-2003, long jump champ in 2000 and 2002, and the triple jump champ from 2000-2002

• Needs just four more touchdown receptions to surpass Jerry Rice’s all-time NCAA record of 50 career touchdown receptions, a mark Rice set at Mississippi Valley State (1981-84).
• Needs at least one TD in four games to top Jerry Rice’s NCAA mark of 26 games with at least one TD.
• Ball has tied Randy Moss’ (Marshall, 1996) record of at least one TD in 11 different games.
• Needs 1,153 receiving yards in 2006 to break Jerry Rice’s all-time career mark of 4,693 receiving yards.
• Named a preseason top candidate for the Walter Payton Award.
• Named a preseason All-American in most preseason publications and other media outlets, including “Lindy’s”, “Street & Smith’s”, “Any Given Saturday”, and “The Sports Network”.
• Named a team tri-captain for the 2006 season.
• Named Vermont’s Male Athlete of the Year.

Have to always support the local kids. :) His production speaks for itself but...how's his separation speed at the NFL level? How many Pats fans wanted Mike Haas?

BTW, Ball's dad is a real good guy (and father too)...very knowledgable and 100% in support of his son. I wish David the best!

Ball is not an unknown. He's been talked about on and off all year here.

He's the guy who broke Jerry Rice's collegiate TD record and tied Rice's record of 23 games with 100 yards or more receiving. Ball is also only 223 yards short of Rice's collegiate total yards record.

I think that someone could take a flyer on him in the 3rd round.

I've seen him play a few games against UMass. You can't dismiss his production, but to me, he just didn't look like an NFL caliber receiver. I think he may be similar to Mike Hass last year - an unbelievable college receiver who's game doesn't translate to the pros.

I think if he goes to the combine adn does half way decent he'll be picked up late in the draft and it's my hope that the pats take him cause that would be great

He is the 24th ranked WR and with preatty much the same 40 time as the number 2 guyso thats something at least
