As an USA soccer fan that game was heart breaking to watch at the end. Especially given all the chances we had on the field during the game yet did not take advantage of them.
But to see Japan overcome the odds and win the way they did is huge for them. Total respect to Japan. I tip my hat off to them.
I'm friends with one of the England players, she's dissapointed they went out obviously but maybe extra so because there was a real feeling England were growing into the competition as they went.
Our ladies are better than the fellas!
With most female players being professional or semi professional now the standard should keep getting better.
I actually enjoy women's soccer believe it or not. Why some of you may ask?
1. They don't dive all over the place and act like they were shot when touched
2. Many Smokeshows
3. ibid #1
4. ibid #1

6 they play the game w/o being divas
7.ibid # 2
8 puts guys soccer to shame w/ far less theatrical dives
a truly tough loss the game was over if they scored a couple of times in the 1st half when they were all over the island of Nippon. I think it was kharma since the nuclear fiasco. Truly an act of Divine intervention like what happened w/ the PATS v. Giants in 2007 SB
The game was exciting. Had these team been a men's team they would have been heavily criticized by their play (and rightfully so). What I enjoyed is they played the game forward, not back, like you see the men play. It's when they played the game back that they lost. I understand the strategy of why they did it (killing time), but they completely took pressure off the Japanese.
