Using the top 500 provided by Seneschal2, draft your Patriots players.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6421386

Here is a list of pick #'s provided by the huddle report:

http://www.thehuddlereport.com/nickelpackage/draftorder.shtml

We now have pick #165 in the 6th round from the Cardnials.

Patriots picks are #'s24, 28, 60,91,123,165,187,196,&219.

Rules:

1. you can pick any player below
the Patriots pick #. (at #24 you can pick any player listed below #24, at #60 you can pick any player listed below #60, ect, ect.

2. no trades. Why? because that is making an assumption that a team is ready and willing to make that trade. not realistic.

3. Discuss with others but no 'your draft sucks' comments.

4. You can do a full 7 round draft if you want but you have to list your Patriots picks separately and use rule #1.

There are not winners or losers. Have fun!
:rocker:

OK looks like everyone else doesn't want to go first so here is mine. REmember no "your draft sucks" stuff.

#24 Aaron Ross, cb Texas
#28 Anthony Gonzalez, Wr, Ohio St- reach maybe but I love this guy, could be a Branch type WR
#60 Dan Bazuin, De/Olb Central Mich- he could be a star or a bust
#96 Buster Davis, Ilb, Fla St- short but flies all over and is tough
#123 Daren Stone, SS, Umaine laugh but he will make it
#165 Zak DeOssie, ILb, smart tough and good bloodline
#187 ScottStephanson C, Iowa St
#196 Nate Ilaoa RB, Hawaii- human bowling ball with speed and toughness
#219 D'jaun Woods, WR oklahoma- big wr who could make it.

Do we need that rule? The top player list is very subjective and even if the top 23 for instance really were the top 23 there's nothing saying one of them won't fall to us at 24, Wilfork comes to mind.

I understand you don't want people drafting Calvin Johnson at 24 because it's unrealistic but this isn't the CBS Sportsline boards so I think people will take it serious even though it's for fun.

Question authority, I like that. It's just a list. It's just a game. If the list would have been different, my picks would have been different.

Although I did come up with an awesome draft.:rocker:

There has to be rules and this is what I came up with and I don't feel like changing them now.

Question: are we picking by who we want the Pats to take or who we think they will select?

Ok, I started this hours ago then just came back to finish it. Upon previewing, I found that Seneschal2 and I look pretty close:

#24 Jarvis Moss, DE/OLB -- Assuming he passes a thorough medical review. Otherwise Anthony Spencer.

#28 Brian Leonard RB/FB -- I surprised even myself with this one, but the CB talent just isn't there, S and ILB are available later, and I don't trust WRs this high. Guessing that Corey hangs up his cleats, Leonard and Maroney make a flat out drool-worthy backfield.

#60 Josh Gattis FS -- Great fit, solid value IMO. This is a strong, deep year for safeties.

#91 Stewart Bradley, ILB -- Possibly my favorite Pats-style ILB prospect, delighted to scoop him up this late.

#123 Brandon Myles, WR -- ok, you made me name a WR. I feel dirty now.

#165 Keith Jackson, DT -- A short, stout run stopper up the middle

#187 Jacoby Jones, WR -- going with my "quantity" approach to WRs

#196 C.J. Gaddis, CB/FS -- A raw, inexperienced player with great physical skills and upside

#219 Matt Gutierrez, QB -- Meet the alternate-universe Matt Cassel: the guy who transferred to get the chance to start. Gutierrez started of at Michigan where he earned Brady comparisons, but an injury knocked him off the track to the starting job and he transferred to Idaho State. A 6'4" classic pocket passer with good field vision, he's a perfect 7th-round gamble.

#24 Chris Houston | CB out of Arkansas
#28 Anthony Spencer | OLB out of Purdue
#60 Johnie Lee Higgins | WR out of UTEP
#91 Desmond Bishop |ILB out of CAL
#123 Anthony Waters | LB out of Clemson
#165 Marvin White | S out of TCU
#187 DeAndre Jackson | CB out of Iowa State
#196 Le'Ron McClain | FB out of Alabama
#219 Corey Hilliard | Tackle Oklohoma State

Houston - Samuel or not..could be a future pro bowler

Spencer - let him learn 3-4 OLB..

Higgins - a return man and good route runner..probably as fast and quicker than Ted Ginn

Bishop - a run stopper..raw in coverage but will be thought..very stout against run..big hitter

Waters - another LB..a steal here b/c he drops from torn ACL first game of season..talented and leader..adds weight and future starter

White -underated Safety..huge hitter and measurables are tremendous.

Jackson - Hobb's partner in crime..drops from a knee injury early in season..could be a returnman and a nickel/dime

McClain - hey..maybe we use a true lead blocker..this guy is nasty. Also short yardage.

Hilliard - just a TC fodder..battles for a spot

I'm surprised I am the only one that took a flier on the local boy (although I think in the real draft he will be there later) and why is everyone taking Leonard in the second pick when by the rules he'll be there in the 3rd .

I also have an Idea you should allow people to take people spots above (for falling people) i'd say 5 in the first round (our 24 28) 10 in the second and 3rd and 20 on day two but hey that's jsut my idea

Ok since we are just having fun I will put my list on here also.

24 Aaron Ross CB Texas
28 Jarvis Moss DE Florida
60 Aaron Rouse SS Virginia Tech
96 Jason Hill WR Washington State
123 Deshaun Winn RB Florida
165 Zak DeOssie ILB Brown
187 Johnny Harline TE BYU
196 Robert Turner OG New Mexico
219 Herb Taylor OT TCU

"#24 Chris Houston | CB out of Arkansas
#28 Anthony Spencer | OLB out of Purdue
#60 Johnie Lee Higgins | WR out of UTEP
#91 Desmond Bishop |ILB out of CAL
#123 Anthony Waters | LB out of Clemson
#165 Marvin White | S out of TCU
#187 DeAndre Jackson | CB out of Iowa State
#196 Le'Ron McClain | FB out of Alabama
#219 Corey Hilliard | Tackle Oklohoma State"

If this draft ever happened it would probably go down as the greatest of all time. I really like Jackson and White to help rebuild the secondary

I think most people are assuming that "Mr. Patriot"'s stock will rise. :) [Plus, as an added benefit, if you take him in the first round, you can sign him for five years instead of four. :) ]

Something this exercise taught me:

The Pats would do well to franchise Samuel with the intent of keeping him on the team. This year's CB crop is pitifully weak.
