First off, lemme say I love all you guys and the Pats. That's not an issue at all, but I'm just wondering am I the only one here who thinks talk of us going to the Superbowl this year are crazy at best right now?

Since our last SB title we've lost:
- The most clutch kicker in the history of the game
- Our Defensive Coordinator
- Our Offensive Coordinator
- Pretty much our whole reciever corps. (Save Badazz Brown)
- Pretty much all of our defencive backs. (save Rockin Rodney)
- Most of our LB corps. (Save tyrannical Tedy)

Without replacing them with anything of equal value.

Seriously if you looked at any other team in the league and they lost all that and their fans were still going on about how they were gonna go 15-1 or 14-2 and win the Superbowl you'd call them the biggest homers in the history of the league. So why is it different here? Brady? Belichick? Hall of fame player and Hall of fame coach to be sure, but enough? Ehhhh I dunno. It'd be different if one or two of us said that, but when I put up the "preseason prediction thread" I don't think there was anyone who didn't say we were going to win the Superbowl.

Now I don't think we're going to stink up the joint, in fact I think we'll win the division pretty easily and win a playoff game before bowing out, but the magic is gone for now. What's wrong with admitting we're a rebuilding powerhouse?

Anyway, I can see the shouts of "traitor!" coming already.

Yes, you are.

I'm a first generation American whose parents came from Oakland,

Nova Scotia and Martins River, Nova Scotia.

I agree with you because we are paper thin and weak at LB and WR.

im from Halifax Nova Scotia

How have the Pats lost all of their secondary since XXXIX?

Samuel's still here, Gay's stil here, Rodney's still here, Geno's still here, Hobbs and Sanders were drafted, Gus Scott is back, and Chad Scott, Warfield, and T-Buck were signed.

But you're saying you'd rather have Earthwind Moreland and Shawn Mayer and Dexter Reid and Je'Rod Cherry?

And 'most' of the LB corps?

Colvin? Vrabel? Bruschi? Banta-Cain? Izzo? Davis?

Seau? Brown? Beisel? Gardner? Mincey?

Am I missing the sarcasm of this thread?

Here's what I see since our last 2 SB's:

QB: better backup, Brady better in his prime
RB: better, Dillon older but, Maroneywaiting in the wings, better 1-2 punch
Faulk healthy, Evans and Cobbs better than Pass
TE: Best positional coverage in franchise history
OL: better than SB teams. potentially much better
WR: weaker, how much depends on Branch situation and Jackson.

DL: better than SB teams group coming into their prime, great depth
LB: weaker, how much depends on Bruschi's injury, could be as good.
CB: SB starters back (Samuel, Gay) added Hobbs, Wilson(?) stronger than
last SB unit
S: If Rodney is healthy, better than SB units, Hawkins, Sanders, Wilson,
Depth and flexibility throughout secondary.

ST: Miller still at same level, Ghost better at KO strong leg, unproven in
pressure situations jury;s out. AV was a rookie once also.

IMO by the playoffs this could be the best team we have seen here. Depends on how the LB and WR situations work out. I am encouraged by the development of the LB group. TBC, stepping up. Gardner a plesant suprise. Alexander, Woods and Mincey look promising. WR well there is the Deion situation, we'll know in a week. When will Jackson get on the practice field? He could be special.

If the poll is "are you the only one who doesn't think we will win the Super Bowl" then obviously the answer is obviously no - but I'm confused because that's not the actual poll question

If your question is "will we win the Super Bowl?" I guess for many people that might come down to whether Branch is playing or not

No, you're missing the point of this thread, but that's not suprising.

I think many are missing it.....DON'T understand especially the question...

i'm very confident for the season - i am sure that we will be Super Bowl contenders - i have no doubt - i love our running game and our tight ends

let's hope we will settle, at the end, also wr

and the defense will be ok

so, in order to reply you: yes, you are imho

Last night Rodney Peete on the BDSSP predicted that Carolina will play the Patriots in the SB. And, the Patriots will win it.

So, take that NSPF.

This is about the 4th media pro that I have heard make the same prediction, so I'm going with it.:woohoo:

Oh well, if a pundit said it it's gotta be true. BTW how did the Colts do last year? They musta won the bowl cuz everyone and their dog picked them right?

I'm hoping that was a sarcastic reply.

You mean to tell me they haven't yet?

Seriously NEM, have you ever coached football? I'm not bein a **** I'm just curious.

We could but I don't think we will.

The Patriots are one of a select few teams that will be there in the end. If they stay healthy, they have a great shot. Nothing is given.

A better question is which team do you see out there that is better than the Pats.

Not one team out there scares me at all.

Go though all the contending teams and I bet you'll be able to find flaws similar or greater than what we have.

The Pats are part of a group of about 6 teams that all could win it. None better than the other.

No, I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't think about SB's before the 1st regular season game has even been played.

We lost some old players, gained some new ones. Coaching should be better one year removed.

Our offensive co-ordinator passed his driving test so he should have more time to spend coaching.:D

What would be the point of playing the season, if you didnt think you can win the superbowl.
