I have a feeling ( hopefully) that they are playing the long game, knowing if they can't get the players they want now with the money either in FA or by trade, come cut down day before the season, they will be well positioned to swoop in and sign a bunch of players. Either that or use it to tie...
My gut tells me in the end, Pats will be glad they lost out on Ridley. Like the EBay bidding that goes crazy and the buyer wakes up to " what have I done" with Ridley's baggage, I don't think he is worth the $92 million..
I think of Leon Gray as a premier Pats left tackle but he was a 3rd round pick of the Dolphins.... Matt Light and Nate Solder were high draft picks 1st/2nd rounds...
I know he doesn't mean Ryan O'Callahan but if he is referring to Marcus Cannon, the reason he dropped was the diagnosis of Non Hodgkins lymphoma before the draft IIRC. He was a higher value pick at the 5th round.
EDIT- wasn't he a RT? mea culpa
Where there's smoke, there's fire. Wentz didnt get along w teammates or his coach.......
Reports: Carson Wentz fell out of favor with Eagles locker room, stopped talking to Doug Pederson for weeks
The problem with Wentz ( among other things) is that he thinks he's a starting NFL quarterback. Flacco knows he is at the end and was on his couch when called back. He made his money and by all accounts is a good teammate. I can see Flacco being a mentor unlike Wentz. The story that sticks about...
It's not only closed, it is getting nailed shut.... Does anybody think they can now hang w KC without a few major pieces of their defense?

To be fair, a rookie going against two of the top receivers in the league ( Hill, Brown, duh) is going to give up yards. Lots of DBs, even experienced ones were burned by them....
