Breaking: Diggs traded to Texans

Cousins,

In the mean time back on the Foxborough Farm, they are pulling their bajakas and deciding if they should actually call the Bengals about Higgins or make the offer I perhaps might suggest of swapping our #34 in the second round for the Niners #63 in the second round and a 6th for Aiyuk.........Nah...why would we do that?

Who hired this Wolf guy anyway?

You are a year too early to invest in a big name WR. First let's get our QB at #3 set and with a year of seasoning under his belt. THEN it will be a better time to go after an elite WR when the WR FA class in 25 is better than what was out there this year. By not overspending this year you don't lose a year of contract time with the guys you DO sign.

BTW- Your trade idea is a good one, but THIS year, I'd rather not drop 30 spots in a year I might be able to get my next LT or a quality WR prospect at 34. At 34 you might get a prospect with a first round grade that you won't get at 63.

Unless the Bills score a Justin Jefferson when the Vikings traded Diggs, they are done. Way too many holes on both sides.

Lucky for them this is an ideal draft for WR even at the end of the first round.

Right, but if I'm reading the following link correctly the pre-June1 trade of Diggs creates $31,096,000 of accelerated dead money that needs to be eaten over the next two seasons.

So, they definitely will need to hit on WR because they need a cheap replacement.

And, overall, I think it's fair to say BUF was viewed as a team without much depth last season and it's only getting worse as they are saddled with both Allen's contract and the cap hit for releasing/trading veterans.

So, they will need to hit on a lot of draft picks as they don't have the money to do what the Texans just did, acquire a big-name vet to fill a hole.

I thought the cap was crap?

Might as well hand KC the Lombardi right now.

Buffalo is cursed. 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses. They finally have a QB but find a way to lose when its go time.

The curse of OJ.
Houston trying to have something to say about that.

I'm not saying Diggs won't have a bounce back year and help the Texans a little, but has anyone really seen or watched Diggs play this year? he wan't all that good, especially as the season went on and he took a few hits.

As others have said, 13 games (including the playoffs) without even getting 100 yards receiving. more than half of those he didn't even get 50. There can't be more than a handful of plays where he made a catch and turned it upfield for a big game, he doesn't have the speed/seperation anymore. His last 3 playoff games, he has 4 catches for 35 yards, 7 for 52, and 3 for 21. In 11 of his last 13 games he didn't have a single catch over 25 yards, and if you look at his game logs, his 'average' yards per reception in many games included numbers like "7.0, 7.4, 6.5, 5.8, 6.0, 6.8, 7.8, 9.7," and even the games he averaged over 10 yard per catch, it was closer to 10 than it was really high. He's just not a game changing guy anymore. He's not a deep threat anymore by any stretch, and even with the Bills eating the cap/bonus money, he is going to cost $18m-$19m per year.

I question whether this is a good deal for the Texans (with what Diggs has become) and its a good deal for the Bills to get out from under him, and no way the Pats want any part of that.

He has already shown signs of his ability fading fast, and I don't thank that is getting better as he gets to be a year older. Maybe, MAYBE his veteran route-running ability helps Stroud for a year, but Diggs, by stats and by the eye-test, is cleary a WR on decline and not even close to what he was 1-2 years ago.

Texans are weaponising their offence...lol.... Will be interesting to see if Diggs makes the difference and get the Texans further into the season.

Always hard to say with certainty but the WR free agent class in 2025 is definitely shaping up to be pretty good. I would tentatively say they should target QB and tackle at #3 and #34, then target a WR with a trade up into the mid 2nd round. If you still feel you need a premier target in 2025 after that then you can buy one.

He's a much better player than anyone that we've got at WR. And that's not even the point.
Then why bring it up.

WR JAGs on other clubs are better than what NE has. That does not mean that NE should begin signing them up in hopes that they will be stars in the NFL. Keenan Allen was the play for a 4th pick who could give you a couple of solid seasons while the Pats develop young guys.
The point is that NE hasn't made it happen at offensive skill positions. They've failed, at least so far.
Heres what Diggs did vs KC when the chips were down. 8 targets - 3 receptions - 21 yards - 0 TDs.

In 4 years of Buffalos post season play Diggs has 2 TDs. Diggs is a milk carton "Have you seen me" candidate.

Diggs to the Texans? Caserio aint playin' games it seems... they are gonna be a tough out, unless Diggs derails that team too with his attitude...

but Buffalo? Bills are dead men walking... we are about to find out how good josh allen really is... cuz he's getting the Brady treatment... no talent left on that offense it seems...

anybody but the Chefs. like to see some competition. Bills have had their shots and failed.

Another brick in the wall proving that talent is out there at WR, waiting to be had, but NE doesn't care enough to get it.
A guy a year older than Ridley who’s also a malcontent, spending $20m to bring him here to be pissed off doesn’t help the team

agreed... that would have made KC's road to the threepeat that much easier than it already is

Hollywood Brown is going light it up with Mahomes after being stuck with Lamar Vick post draft.
he's never been more than a midlin receiver, regardless...
