Players have too much control

He's right and I called this a few years ago. Players are taking a page out of the NBA and dictating what teams are doing. The salaries being so high these days is one reason players can call the shots.

Regarding draft picks, we've seen too many talented prospects get ruined by going to dysfunctional/incompetent franchises like the Jets. Eli/Elway and Kobe Bryant/Lonzo Ball are the most notable examples of players dictating where they wanted to go. Imagine being good at what you do and work hard to be a top prospect, only to go to a horrible environment. More top prospects should do this.

Deion should STFU
The thing is, players don't have any control - it's all about the ownership cow-towing to stances like this (whether you agree with that or not). A team can draft Shadeur Sanders, and if he doesn't like the city, he can go work at Wal-Mart until he decides to play, because the team that drafted him retains his rights.

The reason Eli Manning was a Giant, is because the Chargers caved to 'THE MANNINGS'.

Shadeur and Deion may be surprised at how far his draft stock drops

Agree. Now, that's someone who might slip to the 2nd round, that's worth a draft pick gamble on.

Especially if he has any kind of dropoff in the 2024 season. It's never a given that his stock is just going to continue to go up. Drake Maye was the consensus #2 behind Williams going into this year, and it wasn't even close. Then he didn't even have a BAD season, just a slightly worse one, while Daniels won the Heisman, and now there's a debate. Sanders would do well to focus on his last college season, and address the pro situation when it comes.

I hated it when the Chargers bent over for Manning. Part of why Manning was able to do it, beyond the name, is money was not an issue for him.

With NIL now, players have a viable option of just returning for 1 more year. Of course they risk long term injury or drop in performance which is why very few will attempt it and of those, it would just probably be QBs because they get the most NIL and have lowest injury risk. I doubt Hunter would do it for these reasons.

But no, NFL players have by far the least amount of power in any of the major money making sports in the world that I can think of. You want to see real player power, look at NBA.

I am always pro player btw. Anything else is just hypocrisy and I am still against this as it's not in good faith within the framework both parties agreed to.

if you are always pro player, you should have backed eli.

I hope the Pats aren’t becoming one of those incompetent/dysfunctional franchises.

IMO the jury is still out.

So you think they guys who do the incredible things that we love to watch, who put their bodies and brains on the line, who forgo normal old age with CTE and broken knees should have less power?

Sanders could sit out one draft and re-enter the next year. The Sanders family has plenty of money. Elway and Bo Jackson both used that leverage as well.

They should have a lot of power, but when they get to pick their teams, the competition goes bye-bye.

Shadeur isn't a first round QB draft prospect yet, maybe he better focus on becoming a better QB and leader before his dad worries about where he's drafted.

Maybe top 10 drafted players could have a choice of 3 places that they dont want to go.

And they need to decide that before regular nfl season ends.

And top 10 NFL draft teams would need to give upto 3 picks choice on draft day and depending upon rules it will state which draft pick is eligible.

No one is forcing them to play in the NFL. I always here that NFL players are always getting screwed by the NFL owners and the owners have to much power. As HSanders mentioned the players vote and then sign their CBA.
