Breaking New England Patriots Team News
Just one time I’d like to come here and see the Pats make a significant move like this that’ll help them close the gap on the rest of the division.
I can understand not wanting to pay the contract that Sneed is going to command when we’re banking on Gonzo as our CB1. Tennessee needed a shutdown corner.

Chiefs fans are losing their minds about the **** return for Sneed. They only got a little bit better than a 2025 3rd round comp pick. So, really it came down to the contract....and the Pats once again were too cheap to pay a top player at a premium position (unless they concern about his knee).
I mean, he's not that good, but he's good enough to get overpaid every contract until he's 32. 3rd round pick is pretty good.

I was looking at it like pay Sneed now, by the time is contact is up pay Gonzo and let Sneed walk. Could’ve been a dynamic pairing.

He's not that good though. Like, he's fine. He's aight. But he's not dynamic by any means.

Ha, nice change from “He’s not very good”
Sneed is pretty ****ing good. Tenn fleeced KC.

Local fans should be losing their minds over the pathetic off-season the Patriots are having. The Sneed whiff is just another example of their incompetence. He would have made a dynamic pair with Gonzo. I suppose the excuse will be that the Patriots were concentrating on offense in the off-season, but they muffed that also.

I have not seen such incompetence since an owner named Wellington Mara was the unofficial GM of the Giants. It was not until a football professional named George Young was appointed as the GM (and Tim Young was co-owner) that the team got out of the basement and got away from Wellington's amateur personnel moves.

How did the Patriots “whiff” on Sneed? Was there ever any indication that they were even interested? They already have a CB1, having to pay a guy “highest paid in the NFL” contract value when they need to do that again in a couple years for Gonzo seems like poor resource management.

Imagine throwing a fit because the team didnt trade and give a 75m contract to a guy that in 2022 and 2021 gave up the most receptions. If he was as good as people think Chiefs would have found a way to keep him or there would have been a lot more teams in for him for a 3rd rounder in 2025

Maybe you should go be a fan of the Giants. How are they doing right now?

I used to be when my dad, God rest his soul, was around. He was a big Giants fan.

As far as how the Giants are now, I cannot say. Tim Mara sold off his part of the team and George Young left also; the team went on the skids again as the new owners decided that they knew more about football than the professionals.

It used to be that the Patriots would benefit from other teams that had meddling owners; you could depend on them to make bad trades or stupid draft picks. Now the Patriots are one of those teams. Need a somewhat serviceable starting or backup QB, get one from the Patriots for a six round pick.

When you are a billionaire, you are not used to having someone tell you what to do. For a billionaire, a NFL team is a hobby, a toy to play with.

Sources: Here are the terms on L'Jarius Sneed’s new contract extension with the #Titans:

$19M APY over 4 years
$55M guaranteed

$55M guaranteed isn’t as much as I expected. If this is the deal, I’m even more annoyed that the Pats didn’t outbid the Titans. The notion that Sneed isn’t that good is nuts. He was a top 5 NFL CB last year and he is a complete CB with a dog mentality who is a winning tackler. Just read the Chiefs fans opinions of him and about this deal. None of them are saying “he ain’t that good anyway” or “he relies on holding to be elite”, despite the fact that he is no longer a Chief. Again, maybe the Pats and other teams had intel that his knee is going to be a chronic issue that needs to be managed going forward. If that’s the case, I am glad that they passed but if not….

Since when is having two CB1s a bad thing? First, if one goes down with an injury, you have another stud to cover the opponent’s top wideout. Also, by the time Gonzo is ready for his big money extension (assuming/hoping that his play last year before his injury is what we can expect from him for years to come), Sneed would only have had one year left on his four year deal and the dead money hit if they wanted to cut him wouldn’t have been a huge number.

Sneed's a good player - maybe not top-15 CB, but close.

I would have liked him here with Gonzo, sure. I'm also excited to see which of the young trio - Wilson, Austin, and Bolden - will step up.

Looks to me that the Pats are trying to do a full look at their roster this season (let the kids play!). The draft should be wild. So I'll give them this off-season for the solid reset, and they walk into next off-season with gobs of cash, a better idea of their QB room, and with many more positions locked down satisfactorily after resigning so many this off-season, and hopefully locking down next year's needed re-signs.

I wish they had done more, but I think they're moving in the right direction. Clearly, the Titans think they have their QB with their off-season moves...that will hopefully be us next year.

I hear ya, but Sneed isn't a top-5 corner. Not sure he was the best CB on KC (McDuffie). Top 20? I'll buy that.

Still a good deal for the Titans, though, imo - but then, buyer beware of players coming from top systems like Spagnuolo's D or the Patriots (JC Jackson, right?).

I don't think I would have been thrilled if the Pats had moved pick #66 (or whatever it is) for a player who wasn't a high-value WR.

Say it with me Marcus Jones.

Also we still have Jonathan Jones.

Our top 3 corners and our top 2 safeties are probably as good as any group of starters in the league.

But who knows. Russini basically guaranteed that Belichick to ATL was a done deal.

Lol at 5-7.

Top 5 D in cap space.

Nah he's okay. He won't be able to get away with holding in Tenn as he did in KC. Watch how many holding penalties he'll have now
