Also I'm not seeing anything about a questionable work ethic if you can pass that link along? You have to coddle him in terms of his body/injuries but every team has guys like that to an extent. You just manage around.

Again based on what Lombardi but also Perry independently said on their respective podcasts. So there is no link. The Lombardi podcast you have clearly found and Perry was talking about it with Curran on Quick Slants at some point after the first flood of COVID opt-outs happened.

Good point about injuries, maybe that plays into the work ethic perception during practice those two got while talking to their sources (i.e. "he practices once a week").

Personally I don't think it matters too much anyway because I see no probable scenario where he is not already swooped up by another team before he prices himself into our range.

Still.. thanks for the thorough answer. I'd love to see what BB would be able to do with a specimen like JC.

Given that BB just recently said that they are not yet in evaluation mode Coe must have either broken some rules (COVID ?) or been a total wreck in the OTAesque early phase of camp the last few days.

Nothing 1 of our million coveted late round picks won't fix. Lose a 7th rounder, no big deal, we traded down 18 times to get it. We don't need it. Now if it was our yearly 2nd round CB that went down or quit....

Think that they really need to bring someone in. At DE and at OC/OG. With just Andrews and Gauthier as True centers, they need someone else other than Thuney. They are actually pretty thin for O-line going into camp, surprisingly..

Patriots host four players for tryouts on eve of padded training camp practices

"The New England Patriots hosted four players for tryouts Sunday ahead of the first padded training camp practices at Gillette Stadium on Monday. Here's a list of the players who worked out for the Patriots, per the NFL's transaction wire (Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer)"

we are scraping the bottom of the player barrel.

Clowney has to sign this week, no?

From a football fans pov and spending 0 minutes looking at the cap. Although I think I'm close ... I'd love to see him on the following teams bc of their staffs, schemes & defensive personnel.

How crazy would he be in Cleveland, Indy, Washington or Buffalo? Idk I'd LOVE to see him on one of those teams purely from a football fan pov.

Really interested in this deal when it comes out.

We sure are...and there's no excuse for it whatsoever.

With tons of cap space, Billy's still shopping at the Dollar Tree as if he needs to fill merely the 81st-90th spots on the TC roster instead of the 41st-50th spots on the regular-season roster...

Not one of those four (except for maybe Braden) have even a remote chance of making the 53; and because the TC roster's already capped at 80, there is simply no room here for what amounts to nothing more than a bunch of blocking & tackling dummies, especially when we are in serious need of Actual Professional Football Players.

They are camp bodies. They are not supposed to have a chance to make the team but are needed to make logistics of camp work especially with respect of the limited time they have (e.g. letting QBs let work in parallel, give Keane and Asiasi breaks..).

Suggesting there is no excuse to bring them in just because you want other starters is pretty disingenuous.

We signed three out of the four, bottom of the player barrel tryouts.

... it would probably be a net positive for the team given the general suckitude of our 2nd round DBs :haha:

There is no excuse to bring them in with the depth and talent issues they currently have at certain position groups, the remaining proven veteran FAs there are left and the reasonable contracts these types of FAs have been signing for. They are not simply in need of camp fodder or bodies.

Of course they are in need of camp bodies just solely from a logistic point of view.

What do you want them to do ? Stop practicing whenever Izzo, Keene and Asiasi need a break ? Stop working in multiple groups in parallel because there are not more on the roster ?

Why do you think Lewerke is on the roster ?

Not everyone on the camp roster is there primarily to compete for a starting job. Some are there to help use the allotted practice time more efficiently.

Same with the PS. It is not necessarily a place to polish up young players but often comprised of many players that are there for scout team purposes.

If they could have gotten one of those proven veterans at a price they feel comfortable at then those would be here instead.
