OT: So Jetsy: Jamal Adams Demands a Trade

Reading people's intentions is not a perfect science, and people's intentions change over time.

I can't help but think Adams is being influenced directly or indirectly by seeing how Bell got paid.

It leads to the logic "Bell got paid, we got enough money, pay me or Jerrah will".
Yeah but in all fairness, wouldn't you want to get out of that crapstorm of an organization too? I honestly feel bad for guys drafted into impossible situations. The Jete are an impossible situation.

Real NYJ fans aren't bad. They understand how putrid their franchise is. Bills & Colts are worse imo.
Where's Bob Jensen when we need him??? Every move the Jets made from 1994 to 2000 was nothing short of pure brilliance. They were brilliant to make Belichick their HC and then they were brilliant to let him go. Chad Pennington? Best draft pick of the decade. A sure fire generational talent. They outmaneuvered New England left and right like child's play. :D:D:D

It's a vicious cycle of JETE-crap:
Da JETE is a crappy organization, so they look to acquire players with similar JETE-crap tendencies;
Those players see the JETE-crap all around them when they first arrive and it feeds their own JETE-crap already inside them;
Then a couple of years later - if they make it that far - those players stir up JETE-crap in order to "get paid" as a sign of "respect" even if they have 2 years remaining on their contracts (selfishness & impetuousness being two of the JETE-crap tendencies da JETE value highly);
Da JETE eventually cave in to his demands and trade/release him for pennies on the dollar; da JETE then search for his replacement with the exact same "qualities" as the previous failure...and so it goes...

You will definitely see the Patriots on those lists next season after they unload the dead cap hit from TFB, Antonio Brown, Gostkowski, Gordon, etc.

Maybe. But it does seem like that players are now taking the NBA approach of wanting to go to certain markets because of weather and nightlife. Patriots Place is fun and all but its not going to compare to places like Dallas Miami LA etc when you're a single 25 year old. The Pats had Brady and culture now they just have culture and that only gets you so far...

Wow, a Jensen reference, brilliant!

Da Jete have nothing positive to point at to make players want to stick around.

No examples in recent times of them drafting a player, helping him develop, and rewarding him with a long term contract.

No examples of bringing in young, hungry and upcoming guys on their 2nd contracts, helping them develop, and rewarding them with extensions or at least boosting their market value so they can get paid when they leave.

Just a bunch of young guys who are already complaining in year 3 and in full out rebellion in year 4, and a bunch of over paid aging vet free agents who cash in and rest on their laurels.

Then they bring in coaches like Gaze and Williams who thrive on conflict rather than team building.

It'll be more of the same, unless Douglas gets the power to clean house, and even then he has five decades of suckage to overcome.

The Jets might have found a trading partner in the Dallas Cowboys for Adams.

Jets are after OT La'el Collins and the Cowboys are considering it.

Ah, USENET's "Tollbooth Bob" Jensen!
Remember the DT they drafted? The BBWK, Bowling Ball With Knives. Another Jest BUST!

And then in the Bills newsgroup, Bender. Hated Flutie. Big fan of superbust QB Rob Johnson, the tackling dummy. "He's Tall and has a Great Arm!"

Good times. Good times.

To be fair, pennington would have been a good QB if his arm did not get hurt. Throwing him back into the Snoopy championship game killed his career.

We would've had at least 4 years of quality OL play from Collins if Billy had the minerals to draft him in the 4th round, and as an FU to the league, instead of the anti-athletic Tre Jackson, unfit to overcome a knee injury almost as soon as he turned pro...

I propose the Jets trade us Jamal Adams and their 3rd rounder for Cam Newton and our 2nd rounder. Sounds fair.

I have been always admiring Adams' style of playing. Hard hitter with great football IQ on the field. I trust he will not join Ravens or Chiefs.

I can't think of any other coach whose players seem to hate him more than Gase. The guy has had very little success in the NFL but keeps getting rope. It really demonstrates how ridiculous coaching hires are in the NFL.

You kidding? Those 2 asylums are also run by the inmates; he'd love it there...

All I say is we do not want to play with our strongest opponents bolstered with another talent in the secondary.

EXCLUSIVE: Jamal Adams opens up about a surreal offseason — An inexperienced GM, an absentee head coach and broken promises

Looks like they've reached the point of no return.

Adams is publicly dissing Gaze:
I don’t feel like he’s the right leader for this organization to reach the Promised Land,” Adams said. “As a leader, what really bothers me is that he doesn’t have a relationship with everybody in the building.

“At the end of the day, he doesn’t address the team,” Adams added. “If there’s a problem in the locker room, he lets another coach address the team. If we’re playing sh---y and we’re losing, he doesn’t address the entire team as a group at halftime. He’ll walk out of the locker room and let another coach handle it.”
It's kind of amazing he's willing to publicly dump on Gaze that way. If a coach dumped such direct criticism on a player the twittersphere would be going nuts.

The really juicy bit is he's also throwing GM Douglas and the Johnson Bros under the bus as well!

It seems Douglas promised him he'd bring him a proposal for an extension, but eventually Douglas had to reneg because the Johnsons set a lowball budget!
In January, Douglas told Adams’ camp that he would go to ownership/management to initiate the process to craft a first proposal for a contract extension. It seemed promising. Until fissures appeared. When no proposal arrived weeks later, the sides agreed to pick up discussions at the Scouting Combine in February when Douglas announced that he wanted Adams to be “a Jet for life.” But there was no progress. Something seemed amiss to Adams.

Douglas inexplicably pivoted after the Combine. The forthcoming first offer talk was replaced with this message to Adams’ camp in the run-up to free agency: We’re going to get him better players. The News reported at the time that the Jets had been telling people that they had cash flow restrictions during free agency. The result was predictable: Douglas signed a litany of second- and third-tier players to one-year or de facto one-year deals. Any suggestion that the pandemic played a role in the Jets’ offseason strategy was a red herring. The reality is that the Johnsons set a tight budget this offseason long before anyone became aware of the pandemic.
I guess in addition to being a racist and a sexist, Johnson is also a cheapskate.

As a Pats fan you gotta love this. Their best player plays at a less critical position yet is convinced he deserves record breaking money. The coach is obviously a bad leader and the best player is willing to go on the record saying so. The GM has managed to alienate their best player. The owner is in the middle of a crisis and won't spend enough to keep talent.

All this indicates yet another Jete reboot in the not too distant future. Douglas didn't pick Gaze, Douglas has a long term contract that the owners won't want to eat whereas Gaze doesn't, so it's inevitable Gaze gets fired before the end of the season and DarnIt gets to learn yet another offense.

Just when Jets HC Adam Gase thought things had quieted down, bam Adams throws him under the bus again.

Adams and Gase have not talked in 2020.

Adams says Gase doesn't know how to lead. If losing at halftime he won't address the team.

Plus he's not happy with his racist owner either.

Good times.

Yep...sounds like an appropriate post to begin this year's Jets Suck thread maybe...

And I actually liked the hire of Joe Douglas; his background with winning organizations is undeniable...but that JETE stank is also undeniable...

Adams: "Look at me when I'm talking to you!"
