Noticed a lot of guys getting some appreciation threads and wanted to make sure we didn’t miss out on #14. A few things that we can appreciate about Big Mo:

  • He suits up to play.
  • He gets a lot of snaps.
  • He was acquired by the Patriots for a second round draft pick.
  • He is a member of the Patriots roster.
  • Balls get thrown towards him quite often.
  • He was just one block attempt away from an epic Harry rushing TD.
  • Against the Ravens, the game cited as his potential to be good, he averaged about 5 yards per target, which is almost Dwayne Allen level (14 targets, 10 catches, 81 yards)
  • He isn’t a good predictor; during SB51 he bragged the Falcons would score 40+. They didn’t score 40+, but they did lose to the Patriots (I’m appreciative of that.). If his prediction had been correct, the Patriots would have lost. So it was arguably a game changing skill (bad predicting) from Sanu that led to the SB51 victory.
  • His lungs take in O2 molecules and expel precious CO2, ever-so important for plant life on Earth. (Credit to @neuronet for this important point.)
  • In the gameday programs, Sanu bridges the gap between Philip Dorsett (13) and N’Keal Harry (15). (Credit for this appreciation point goes to @supafly )

Sigh . . . is this what the board has become?

I'm actually willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that whiffed block: it looked to me, given his complete lack of engagement with the defender, like abject confusion about assignment - a total and utter brain fart - so maybe not an aversion to contact. (Isn't his reputation as a willing blocker in the run game?)

The immediate play before, however - which has been lost in the glare of that botched run play - was more concerning to me. He had every opportunity, but not the awareness apparently, to reach out and grab a first down.

You're absolutely right. He exists, and he plays football for the Patriots.

I didn't want Sanu when he was a FA coming out of Cincinnati. He has always been a less talented clone of Brandon Lefail.

Loved it when he signed with Atlanta, absolutely despised trading a 2nd Rd pick for him. He is a mediocre 3rd wr, it's all he has ever been.

I don’t get it either. Posters claim he “tore it up” that game but averaging 8.1 yards per reception is pathetic.

I also put blame on Brady as the play became obvious when the player that wears number 15 ran over early and Brady told him to go back. Brady should’ve killed the play. Speaking of number 15, can he do anything other than run a jet sweep?

Perfect comparison. You get a like.

I get that people are saying Sanu inside/middle of field presence was needed, but we need guys who can get open and move the chains. Is there any reason we couldn’t have traded a mid-low pick for Danny Amendola back? Can’t imagine the Lions wouldn’t want a mid-low round pick and shed some salary for a guy who is not long for the league.

Anyone think there’s bad blood between Amendola/agent and the Pats? Seems that the money he was paid by other teams was reasonable for the Pats to match, and moving on from each other was a bad move for both sides.

Ice_Ice you forgot one of his main strengths:
  • His lungs take in O2 molecules and expel precious CO2, ever-so important for plant life on Earth.

Thanks for the reminder. I will add it to the bullet list and credit your contribution.

I assumed they let him walk because they needed to revamp their WR corps. They didn’t do a very good job at that. If Brady decides to stay, I expect him going full Kawhi and demanding a 2007 overhaul.

That’s what I think to. He will come back if they go out and get talent. If they use this band-aid offense approach he walks. I think prime Edelman is basically done, too based on his age and body breaking down...maybe a 50-catch guy or so for a year or two at best. A superstar WR and a good to great TE is needed here.

We have to wonder if Sanu is worth $6Mill next year?? Seems like a lot for what little he does. And for those who thought that he would rival the 49ers Sanders Trade puhlease.:rolleyes:

Sanu can be bashed here, but wasn't his injury a "high ankle sprain"?? If so the recovery period for that malady is 6 weeks to 3 months with rest...

Sanu was injured on Nov. 17...

A few posters on this board just love to ***** about things. I hope they are happier in the rest of their lives than they are here.

Thought the thread was funny but agree with you. Personally I like Sanu and think he'll contribute more once he's healed up and more familiar with the offense.

I agree with you..think Brady’s been around too long not to have a sense as to who can help. Frustrating right now though.

Congratulations on a crap OP.

He needs to trade numbers with Dorsett
