This wasnt against cincinatti, this was against a VERY good Bills defense. #2 in the league.

The patriots looked the best that they ever have offensively this year. They controlled the line of scrimmage, ran the ball hard. Put themselves into 3rd and 4 or 5 instead of 3rd and longs. had 8 minute drives to limit the field. Guys were breaking tackles for big plays. Now that the run game is going, we see the pass protection look better, the play action work. and guys like Edelman/Harry and Meyers go to work...and brady is trusting them.

Not sure what changed. But this is eerily similar to last year when the Patriots looked inept 90% of the season. and then found something in the last couple games that they carried over to the playoffs

It's only one game but I came away feeling exactly the same as you. The offense, at least yesterday, looked fixed.

The secondary looked to take a step back but they're kind of banged up.

Very good post...I think everything clicked the way it should with everyone “doing their job”. If they can keep consistently executing well especially on OL....they would be tough to beat. Feel like Edelman is so banged up tho..they really need Edelman!

Also, N'keal Harry looks like a playmaker at the receiver position which is what we need. Guy just breaks tackles and is hard to bring down.

Hoping it was due to us losing Jones/Mccourty yesterday. We need those guys healthy for the playoffs. JC Jackson seems more of an outside guy

From postgame thread:

  • Wynn has settled into playing like a franchise LT the last two games.
  • Mason has gone from liability to stud the last two games. Getting healthy?
  • Harry's quickness from before & after the Texans game is noteworthy. I'll wait for the all-22 thread but he has emerged as that 3rd playmaker on offense - 8 touches for 76 yards, a DPI & a called back deep ball in the last two games.
  • Brady's health improving to the point where he looked like himself for the first time in months.
  • Honorable mention - Roberts learning how to play FB
Still won't be the 2018 OL without Andrews but if they can go from liability to strength it'll change the offense.

I’m not entirely sure if we should take Miami lightly but it would be for the best if we could sit Edelman this week. Every time he caught the ball in space, I kept expecting to see his knee just buckle like RGIII in 2012. He at least needs to be kept on a pitch count if he goes.

As far as the offense? Best game since the first half of the first Jets game. And against a fine defense in the Bills. 50/50 run to pass ratio. Kept them guessing, Sony ran hard, and Brady looked great.

Mason was honestly playing better than I've seen all year during last game

O-Line has played better as a whole too, that shows when Newhouse comes in and it's not a complete disaster.

I am pulling for Harry, but I don't buy the hype I've seen here lately... Yes, he's being more productive, but that's by design... His role reminds me of Cordelle Patterson... which isn't something I had in mind when we got him on the 1st round.

But yeah, he looks dangerous with the ball in his hands and is still dipping his toes into the water, come playoff time, i hope he's ready to be a good pure WR, besides being a "swiss knife" kinda of player.

We need to play well against Miami so we can really create momentum to the Play-Offs. If our Offense reverts back to being horrible, we won't last much

interesting from reiss on N'keal Harry

If true, pretty ridiculous by our staff to be that quick to give up on a rookie who spent most of the season on IR.

I was just going to write that someone here suggested a few weeks ago that Harry could work in that Patterson role and it seems they’ve done a bit of that the past couple of weeks. (Not that the Patriots read patsfans ...) Whatever it takes I guess, and maybe by finding that role he can be eased more into a pass catching role. Also sounds like they emphasized his role as a blocker this week and he seemed to do pretty well there.

Good to see Meyers making some nice grabs again.

Looked to me like they found a division championship and a more than fair shot at the bye. Oh, they also found new hats and t-shirts waiting at their lockers. All in all not a bad day at the office.

Huh? As opposed to by accident? Are you part of the “can’t get separation” gang who immediately gave up on him? Those posters are suddenly awfully quiet. He is improving slowly and they are adding more to his plate every week. I expect him to be a major weapon in the playoffs. He doesn’t have to go 7/105 to make an impact.

people like to instantly analyze
and then define something permanently. Of course on the very next play or game something else happens and they they instsntly redefine it. Case in point, Burkhead fumbles and we get an instant "Burkhead is useless " post in the game day thread.

In a perfect world, we run our 2015 Week 17 @ Miami offense, just this time we can actually move the ball. Make Harry/Meyers/Dorsett the top 3 WRs and hope they can handle it for one week.

Their balls, I think.

I knew all along they were pulling a rope a dope. Happens every year. I fall for it every year too and I know it but every year, it seems less likely. This year, it seemed even less likely for reasons like gronk gone, Brady a year older, Edelman banged up. Allen gone. Etc.

We will see what happens but, here we are again

They probably meant for this year.
