Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

Eww. After the super bowl “we about to lay 50 on their ass” I have had a bad taste in my mouth about this guy. He’s a decent number 2 WR not somebody I would consider remotely close to worth a 2nd rounder. Hopefully we are getting back a 4th or the Falcons ate a bunch of his cap or something cuz on the surface the Falcons WON that trade and the Pats usually come out at least even. There has to be more to this or I really don’t like it. Of course I am just a random internet football browser and IBWT.

If you think a guy is a decent #2, he's absolutely worth a 2nd round pick. I'm not convinced he's going to be that on this team this year (or even needs to be with Edelman, Gordon, Dorsett, and hopefully Harry), but he has the potential to contribute and is depth if nothing else.

As for the SB comments... yeah, bad look. But you have to factor in the culture of the team he was on too. That kind of bravado is infectious, and as we're seeing with our defense this year, isn't a bad thing so long as you keep working and getting after it.

No it is not. You are incredibly delusional to assume AB is stable enough to last the season
In a Patsfans.com far far away in the year 2035..

“We should bring back AB, no?”

Yes
No
Killed a guy

AB isn't going to play for the rest of the year. Stop whining and accept this. It sucks but sometimes you have to man up.

AB will likely line up against us during playoffs while we pick up the tab.

wow, was hoping for Hooper....and would have preferred Sanders if we were going to get a WR

Welcome to the team Mr. "wer're about to put up 40 on their ***" Sanu

I don’t get burning a second round pick on him.

But welcome to the Pats!
Meh....this guy has not been difference maker for several years..he is a possession guy at best now..which is really not what we need..If they traded a 2nd for him that’s wayyy too much....oh well in Bill we trust!

Why a 2nd round for Sanu?! oh god.

And AB could be had for free ............

i was holding on to a sliver of hope, but the Antonio Brown fantasy is officially over.

Edelman and Sanu triple pass?
Plus Meyers is a converted QB.

Our Hail Mary play could be four people lateraling the ball back and forth until one of them launches the downfield pass.

This trade is a blatant acknowledgement that we are desperate at the WR position. We paid a hefty fees (2nd round) to bring an ok-ish receiver.

Meanwhile AB could be had for free and materially improves the team and he has no litigation pending.

You need a time out

Sanu is a good pick up. I'm liking what I see from J.Myers, another converted QB turn WR, great hands and runs crisp routes.

JE
Gordon
Sanu
Meyers
Dorsett

Not bad at all.

Maybe in exchange for getting a higher pick, the Falcons agreed to pay most of his remaining salary? Especially given our cap situation.

What is going on here ?

First, in a League that has been devaluing first rounders for a few seasons (notice how many have been traded away) is a second rounder even a big deal anymore ? Secondly, to bring up stupid comments from the past : who cares ? It's winning time. Thirdly, the obsession with AB "as a saviour"... yes, he was great on the field - but he is the type who brings discord and conflict. We don't need that. Finally, this team is ALL about D. All about. It's an insane D. Borderline 85 Bears. Our offense needs Brady's brains and clutch plays from White & Edelman. We don't need the Fall of 07 edition.

Sanu will catch the ball. "More of a #2" : GREAT ! If you find a #2 receiver with a second round pick - you jump.

Watch, later today or tomorrow...Josh Gordon gets put on IR

In hindsight tho, we did give up a lot for Dorsett. But he is a good player for us.
We gave up nearly nothing. A third string QB that was never going to play for a guy in Brady's inner circle of trust that has already helped NE win the SB !

I think I read he was from Europe, if he is, they don't believe in disciplining their children there.
I bet he's a FF guy. Probably pays his rent from it.

I wanted Sanu badly in that draft and we took Tavon Wilson instead.
