B-more or Indy?

Ok - Hear me out.

Chiefs may struggle with Greenbay and Minnesota coming up and with no Mahomes for a few weeks, they could lose both of those games. Not saying they are totally out of the picture but they have some issues and need to win as they are already 2 games back.

Texans look good but lost to the Colts today. But still could be a good team when we play them. Its been pretty close the last few games.

Baltimore just went into Seattle and throttled them, offensively and defensively. Jackson is a beast. This is not the same guy from last season who everyone said couldn't throw the ball. He can. He's even more dangerous cause he can fly and make HUGE plays with his legs as well.

The Colts have gotten a lot better with the defense and Brissett is playing pretty well if I may say so myself. They have a good running game, decent passing game and good defense. They can chew away clock and keep opposing Qbs off the field.

I have to say I would fear Baltimore the most.

Thoughts?

Jackson= RG#3 2.0. It would be a miracle if he lasts more than 2 seasons.

Neither the Ravens or the Colts will finish better than 11-5 even if they win the division.

Pats will end the year 12-4.:D

Unfortunately, the Bills will end the year 13-3 due to their cupcake schedule.

I keed, I keed!

Being scared of other afc teams is a complete waste of energy right now.

First, we need to be focused on the Jets. They are the next game on the schedule.

secondly, we must get healthier. Yes, we will get Wynn back and then he has to prove he can stay healthy. Hopefully Harry gets healthy enough to be activated. Then he will have to prove, he can contribute.

third, next man up! Gordon is going to miss the next two games with the sprained mcl. That is just how the body works. It is up to gunner and Meyers to step up and become nfl receivers.

fourth, we have a hard count down to trade for some talent. Yes, the cap is tight, but we have to get creative. Newhouse is garbage and depth in the o line is non existent. Can we upgrade the o line via a trade? Wide receiver and tight end are thin, the fullback position is completely ir’ed. Yes, we added two tight ends recently. Are they enough? Can we add depth to the wide receiver position? Is there a free agent fullback worth signing on the scrap heap?

focus needs to go toward the controllables, not wasted on what the other guys are doing.
What he said!

Our OL not playing well is our biggest threat.

Stop embarrassing Lamar please poor comparison by even Patsfans standards.

With Matt Moore though?

Ok they'll obviously struggle with Moore against GB. But favorites possibly against Minnesota. I'd say they will be favorites against Tennessee & Chargers because they are a dumpster fires. (Also Mahomes is supposed to be back by the Chargers game. Injury is 3 weeks apparently).

I fear no team. But I do respect the Colts.

They have some balls on them, and that goes a long way in this league.

With the exception of Wynn, there's really no help on the way. Guys are going to have to start playing better (IE Cannon & Mason.) Newhouse is what he is. He's going to be starting until Wynn returns.

Yeah, RG3 was a much better passer.

Other than that, they're pretty much the exact same guy.

And Brissett's top WR was either a hobbled TY with a quad injury, or Zach Pascal, the living personification of "who???"

Which has nothing to do with injuries.

Mahomes wasn't hobbled until the Colts D (Autry?) hobbled him with an ankle-tackle sack.
I think that's excessively lenient to the Chiefs. The only issue actually caused by injuries is the lack of a top WR. The rest is systemic issues with the composition and tactics of the team.

Sure, he was missing his top targets. But Mahomes is allegedly an elite QB. If he's elite, he should be able to elevate his second tier receivers. he shouldn't NEED elite targets if he himself is elite.

The ability to make the receivers around you adequate even when they aren't is a defining distinction between the elite QBs and the best of the rest. Manning's had to do it. Rodgers has definitely had to do it. Brady has REALLY had to do it over the years. Heck, even Brissett did it, he's put the undrafted Zach Pascal on the map over the last few weeks out of almost nowhere.

Why is this so much to ask of Mahomes?

We seem to be talking past each other here. Who the Colts were missing on offense has nothing to do with the KC O / Indy D match up.

The OL sucking to begin with makes a big difference when they then lose two additional starters.

Yes, Mahomes wasn't hobbled to begin with... which is why he got a TD on his healthy drive. From then on he didn't have to legs to make up for his line getting obliterated. This isn't that hard to figure out.

The point about scheme actually supports my position. KC leans heavily on the elite talents in the way they attack a defense. Without those talents, the approach becomes a burden, making the net result being a subpar offense.

The question at the end of your post is so far afield from relevance of understanding of the situation at the time that I don't know how to respond.

Needless to say, we aren't going to agree here.

Not "scared", just being observative with what the future could be as far as competition. I guarantee Bill does it. He'd be a bad coach if he didn't.

Would anyone really be scared of Baltimore coming into Foxborough in January?

Steps to stopping Baltimore’s offense:

1) Contain Jackson.

2) That’s it. There’s no more steps. Keep him in the pocket and win.

Agreed. It was mind-blowing how willingly Seattle lost contain. They were still doing it on Baltimore's penultimate drive. You'd think they would know better given who they have at quarterback.

Lamar Jackson’s passing stats outside of Miami (6 games):

60% comp
6 TDs
5 INTs
80 passer rating

Hmmm... Minnesota has looked pretty good the last few weeks putting up huge numbers. Cousins has been lights out. They will shred that KC defense easily with those young weapons aside from the decent defense.

I'm chalking these 2 games as a loss for KC. And KC plays horribly at home.

This is what each and every team has been TRYING to do. He's really hard to keep in the pocket, its easier said then done.

Now... I will give you this, our defense is much better than any he has faced so I can see BB having a good scheme to hold him at bay but he will have some plays where he scrambles for some yards cause our secondary will not give him anything in the passing game. I will admit, he stats for passing aren't great but he seems to make some good passes when he needs downfield. He's not going to make those Brady accurate thrown for 10 yards but he hits his players deep for 50-60 yards.

I just wouldn't under estimate him. They are 5-2.

I’m increasingly impressed with Jacoby. He seems to be a really good leader for that team and is starting to come into his own. That being said, the Patriots with the best defense in the league shouldn’t have a problem with him. He is basically a smart pocket passer who is still on the conservative side in his play style. That is unlikely to beat the Patriots.

I consider him more on the Rodgers/Alex Smith/Mahomes mobility level where he passes first but could hurt us running if the defense left a big opening. The reason I say this is I'm pretty sure when he started for us against Houston in 2016, his TD run hit a very impressive top speed based on the NFL's tracking data.

If we play Indy this year the defense might play it conservative with the pass rush to avoid getting burned on broken play scrambles. Then again, we don't seem to approach Mahomes that way, so maybe this is really a completely different defense from the recent Patriots tendencies I'm thinking about.

Not Seattle.

Imagine telling, say, the September 2018 Patsfans.com forum that teams led by Jackson and Brissett would be the Pats biggest threats.

I'd start googling the duck boat routes, based on what we thought we knew in 9/2018

I know Denver sucked on offense, but if the Chiefs D/Spagunolo get something going....I am ****ting my pants....
