My rankings:

SB 36 - I was a 28 year old man CRYING in disbelief during the post-game ESPN highlights.....
SB 51 - 28-3 come back and I was there.
SB 49 - The Butler interception snapped a 10 year drought and brought me a sense of relief.
SB 38 - Our 2nd and affirming that the 01' team wasn't an one time fluke. 4th quarter was good.
SB 39 - Winning is always nice, but watching McNabb puke on the field & killing the clock put a bit of damper in this one.
SB 42 - Not better than the ones below, but gotta say more entertaining.....in a painful way.
SB 46 - This one hurt the most, IMO....yeah we blew a 19-0 season, but to come back 4 years for a rematch only to lose....on a misfire to Welker and an acrobatic catch by Manningham.
SB 52 - Tough to blow a 505 yard passing game by Brady.....
SB 31 - Desmond Howard man....and Reggie White plowing down Max Lane....then Parcells bolting....
SB 20 - Only the field goal at the beginning was exciting.....

51 - 28-3 Comeback. Still can't believe it.
36 - The first. I thought they were going to win but was in disbelief when it happened.
49 - Butler snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
38 - Best game I've ever been to. The feeling walking into the stadium of Holy Bleep I'm at the f'ing Super Bowl.
39 - Was at this one also. Dump of a stadium.
42 - Was at this one also. Worst feeling in the world leaving this game. It killed me seeing Junior Seau collapse on the field after the NYG go ahead TD.
20 - We got smoked but Squish the Fish and Berry the Bears was fun.
46 - Saw this loss coming after SB42.
31 - Blah

#1 - "The next one"

SB 36 - Can't beat the first one
SB 49 - A much better game than SB51
SB 51 - Gotta love a historic comeback
SB 38 - Crazy s*it in the 2nd and 4th quarters
SB 39 - Winning is good, but surprisingly boring.
SB 46 - Loss is tough, but we never should have been there.
SB 52 - Tough to blow our chance at a repeat.
SB 31 - What could have been if Howard was tackled.
SB 42 - Having trouble on whether this or SB20 should be least favorite. This hurt the most, but at least NE was in the game.
SB 20 - Oh well

Still kills me to this day....RIP, Junior.

Super Bowl XXXVI because everyone else won them - never felt it could be us.
To me just as big as the Red Sox victory in 2004.

49 - ended the 10 year drought, big f u to everyone right after defame gate, best matchup ive seen in a sb since 1997 and it somehow surpassed the hype. Two more vintage pats wtf / omg plays with kearse and then butler.

51- biggest comeback ever, bradys legacy game. Solidied us as the goat dynasty. Gut wrenching for the haters. The catch by Edelman for the vintage pats wtf/ omg moment.

39 - capped an incredible postseason run after 2 dominant wins over afc powerhouse teams. solidified as the dynasty. The last time a team has won back to back, in this era that has become a huge accomplishment, only accomplished once in 20 years. The least stressful one, that team was a machine, sleepwalked most of the first half then turned it on and didn’t look back .By now the pats were universally hated and recognized as a powerhouse and stuck it to everyone still. By far the toughest road to a sb weve had and it was the most convincing set of playoff wins of all our playoff seasons. The greatest pats team ever.

36 - the first one is obviously special. Coaching clinic by bb and co, nothing will come close to it from a coaching perspective.

38 - another classic game, dominance by brady, janets boobies

Not even gonna try to rank the others

5 way tie for first.
5 way tie for last.

49 may be the best football game ever played, considering the level of competition in the modern era. Two near-perfect teams (as good as it gets with the salary cap) without weaknesses. Very different styles and strengths. Both teams struggled early in the season but were essentially 14-2/15-1 level clubs.

Then maybe Seau should have listened to Harrison when Harrison was pleading with him to check out of that idiotic blitz.:mad::mad:

Rodney should have called a timeout

Pretty much what I was thinking.. Agreed on 46, was really confident they would pull it out and very pissed when they lost it.

Only possible change might be flipping 49 and 51 because of the 10 year drought and the finish... Obviously the 28-3 comeback was incredible but after everything with the Giant losses and DFG, 49 felt soooo good.

Ranking SBs according to what? Personal preference/enjoyment? Or trying to be 'objective' the same way NFL was, when they ranked SB XLII as the best Patriots Super Bowl and top 3 ever? o_O

Srsly, I should've known better by now, but how on Earth any impartial observer would rewatch Giants bouts before the Seahawks game?

Anyways, this is my take:

SB 49 - two absolutely best teams that year, dynasty of old vs defending champion, versatility vs all-time great defense, Belichick vs Carroll. Plenty of personalities on the field, we had Tom, Gronk, veteran O-line, Vince, Revis, Browner, exciting young guns (HT, Collins, Jones, Easley). And then they had Beast Mode in prime, Wilson, Wagner, Maxwell, Bennett, Chancellor... Sherman... Earl Thomas... Mindboggling talent. Stakes so high, intense game in every quarter, TB's 14-point comeback, gut-wrenching lucky catch, then the Seahawks in RZ, interception, brawl... that game had it all and felt, at the time, as a fitting epilogue to GOAT career.
SB 51 - I was confused and couldn't comprehend what was going on. When the score was 28-20, I felt we're going to get, although it still looked impossible. In a sense, this was the weirdest sports' event I've ever seen, so it's hard to rank; I'm still WTF about it.
SB 36 - gutsy team effort. Getting there was one hell of achievement, but winning it all, stalling Rams offense to 3 points for better part of the game? Priceless; Brady's late drive was a cherry on top.
SB 38 - second half is almost as enjoyable as 2014 game, but Panthers didn't impress me nearly as much as the Seahawks. It's great to see the original dynasty in full swing.
SB 39 - I don't remember much from this game. Maybe that's what you get once the team is 2004 Pats good.
SB 53 - Brady still deserves an A for this one and if defense showed up at least once on 3rd down, we'd have it.
SB 46, 42 - I think XLVI feels a bit better because Patriots willed their way to the big game.

I've done this before, my answers may have changed since then, but eff it! :p

SB36 - The first win has to go #1 IMO. 14 point dogs against a historically great offense led by the league MVP, ending with some 6th round backup named Tom Brady leading the game-winning drive in the final seconds. Legendary.

SB49- Great stories need a great ENEMY. The Seahawks were so easy to hate that they drove some of the usual Patriots haters to root against them. Just the biggest a-holes alive, but also an absolutely savage team to go up against. Defending Super Bowl champs who just humiliated the greatest statistical offense in NFL history the year before. You could turn on this game at any moment and see great quality of play by both teams on both sides of the ball. The advantage see-sawed back and forth but neither team was ever out of it until the final seconds. Brady lead an epic 14 point 4th quarter comeback that was almost wasted in the final seconds... until the most electrifying defensive play in NFL history flipped the script one last time.

SB51 - Just too crazy to rate any lower. Seemingly the ultimate cherry on top for Brady's legacy (OR IS IT?), from 28-3 down to an overtime win that felt like a foregone conclusion. That said, lot of the game wasn't actually good to watch, and not just because the Pats fell way behind - it was 3 quarters of one team doing everything and the other doing nothing, and 1 quarter and overtime where it flipped 180 degrees.

SB38 - A back and forth game that's low-key underrated. This was kind of the moment where Tom Brady changed from "just wins games" into HOLY CRAP TOM BRADY who can throw for however many yards and touchdowns he wants on the biggest stage and not care. It's kind of hard to care about the 2003 Panthers as opponents now, but there is video showing a surprising amount of pre-game trash talk and general bad blood.

SB39 - An epic playoff run (holding the greatest offense anybody had seen to 3, hanging over 40 on the clear-cut #1 defense in the league) that ended with what would have been a very blah game on its own merits if it wasn't, you know, a SUPER BOWL. Lots of sloppy play, but true to form this version of the Pats eventually ground their opponent into fine paste with the kind of tragic inevitability usually associated with geological disasters.

The rest - to hell with 'em.
