Van Noy gets 2-year extension

Obviously this is Bill's last season and he's trying to sabotage the team's future. I'll be on the Sports Hub to talk about this with Felger and Mazz.

There was a post on the game thread speculating that Belichick was trying to sabotage Brady by installing a vertical passing game to showcase his weaknesses and give a pretense for benching him in favor of Jimmy. Because we all know that if Belichick decided it was time to go with Jimmy he wouldn't just do it, and instead would feel the need to torpedo the team in a game against an AFC bye contender.

Which is all to say that no opinion's so ridiculous that someone won't honestly make it.

I love that this post comes one regular season game removed from a Super Bowl victory.

To paraphrase someone who's pretty famous around here:

We’re on to next year. It’s 2017. You can forget about last year. That was last year.

Bill watches film from previous games and seasons to help learn lessons about his team and other teams.

Perhaps you should read your old posts where you talk the same **** about how they build the roster but they keep winning.

I won't blame you if you don't, though, nobody wants to wade through your old posts.

Or you could just learn what the hell you're talking about. You could take the example of my repeated calls for a middle-deep threat, for starters.

You could also realize that I've been saying that they'd figure it out, and that I was, as stated, mostly joking when I made the post that seems to have gotten your panties in a wad..

You could also realize that what you just posted had nothing to do with anything either of us had posted previous.

Or you could just remain that same sad clown of a poster that you already are.

Not a fan of Van Noy. He isn't horrible but not that good.

I would rather him not see a ton of snaps this year but maybe it is the best they can do for right now.

Interesting...not one of his better games the other night. His reactions were slow, and he never looked in sync. Also demonstrated poor tackling on a couple plays. I do like him overall though. I'll give him a pass for yesterday

That pretty much describes the entire defense.

I like van Noy.

By all accounts, he picked up the playbook, does a decent job, seems competent.

You need some Van Noys if you expect to win in the salary cap era. Players that won't wow you, but do a good enough job while allowing money to go to difference makers.

Man I would love for BB one day to find a defensive superstar like a Justin Houston in the draft for the front 7...we really need someone like that.

Would someone "like that" have added to the two championships in the last three years ? Or would that player have been enough to make up for all the injuries in 2015 ? Not likely.

"That player" is a bad usage of ressources. He costs more than he provides.

I like Van Noy. Before the end of the year, he'll help this team win games.

You probably need a First Round pick, so.....:(

Van Noy is decent, adequate...not a bad move

This is a serious, not Freeny-like extension.
Hope he can play up to it. If he can this will be a very good news.

Not good news for “grass is greeners“ . hungry for new “big“ trades, signings..
the cap is at 4M

The LB position looks quite locked up for next two yrs..

If BB had drafted Justin Houston he might have contributed to a SB win in 2011, 2012, or 2013 when he was on a cheap 3rd round rookie deal.

That's the kind of contract that says he's going to continue to play every defensive snap...now we just wait to see who will be playing next to him.

Can he cover rbs after watching hunt go for over 200 yards of total offense?

What a complete waste of precious cap resources, and a horrible example to set for the rest of the team.

This is probably a good time to sign a few guys to contracts. After a tough loss when stock and morale is lower than normal.

Yup.

Freeny's contract was primarily that of a solid STer, who could be a backup LB. It was very similar as that for Slater.

I believe that Van Noy's was quite a lot more. The blurbs all say $5.5M guaranteed. It is really a bit more than that. He got a $3.5M bonus plus his $2M 2018 salary is guaranteed. In analyzing the contract, I certainly would include 2017 salary and workout bonuses, so he gets at least $6.7M for two years (2017 and 2018 plus any bonuses).

2019 is really an option year for the team with a salary of $4.2 plus bonuses.

BB the GM trying his best to tarnish the reputation of BB the HOF HC.:p
