Patriots trade for Carolina DE Kony Ealy

This has been an entertaining off season and the 3 big names (Butler/Hightower/JAG) are still up in the air. We are in store for more fireworks one way or another.

They moved down 8 spots from #64 to #72. It was excellent value. Ealy had 3 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick in the Super Bowl.

To take it one step further, we just filled a huge need at DE for peanuts. What don't you like about this deal?

The price, both salary and draft compensation, is great but it remains to be seen how much of an impact he has. In the Trey Flowers mold rather than an uber-athletic end. Let us hope he performs well in the spots that BB will put him in. Patriots just added depth and most likely will hope for a more dynamic Defensive End in the draft.

Now here you go.

Whether Ealy is that great or not isn’t important or relevant at this time. Point is that they picked up a cheap, young DE for basically lint. A guy who made huge plays against the highest scoring offense in league history in a SB. That's worth something.

It's basically like going after sheard. Too inconsistent when it comes to rushing the passer. In a draft full of pass rusher we go after a guy that has been dissapointing.

I haven't seen carolina play much but when i have k early has stood out on the defense.

It is a cheap contract for 1 year and he will be a quality rotational guy who has the talent to maybe have a great game here and there. He is worth it.
