Terrell Owens has “lost all respect” for the Hall of Fame process

On one hand, I've criticized the process myself. 48 writers decide who is going to be a football immortal in private ballots. Too few to eliminate bias and no criteria established for wide receivers of a given era. Again, writers should publish why they voted the way they did to insure they are consistent and impartial.

Then there is Terrell Owens being Terrell Owens. When he was not happy the ball was thrown to him enough, he disses the QB:
  • Implied Jeff Garcia is gay
  • Said Donovan McNabb was not Brett Favre - plenty of other stuff said against the Eagles
  • Claimed Tony Romo and Jason Witten conspired to not throw the ball to him
Now he is saying the HoF is adding criteria and "lost all respect." When has TO given respect?

“You listen to guys like Bill Polian and Dan Fouts that have said, you know, coaches and players have come to them or pulled them to the side and said that I was a horrible teammate,” Owens said, via Dave DeLuca of SportingNews.com. “That’s what really rubs me the wrong way, because I know . . . how I was raised. When you talk about character, that’s a sensitive subject for me, because I know who I am as a person. Just because I had some disagreements with some coaches or some players, that doesn’t mean that I’m a bad person or disruptive or a locker-room cancer as they would have it.”

While he has a point, it should come from others not up for selection indicting the HoF. And the above quote is hilarious - his history as a locker-room cancer is well-documented...he's just reminding everyone why he's not in the HoF.

I think bringing up the race card is bogus. Muhammad Ali was also a controversial black athlete, but I cringe to mention him in the same breath as TO.

When Brady's up for the HoF, his leadership on and off the field will be brought up, just like many QBs before him going back to at least Unitas. If positive inspiration can be considered, why can't negative inspiration be? It hasn't come up because most players respect their team too much - more than TO. NFL induction rules attempt to keep this from being a popularity contest, but when a candidate's behavior directly affects the play of his teammates, it's fair game.

Let him wait longer.

Cry me a river.

If I had a vote, I would never, Ever, EVER vote for Terrell Owens for the HOF.

Feck him. He's a locker-room cancer. He doesn't deserve to be in the same building as the all-time greats.

Using writers to determine the HOF is like using toddlers who missed their nap.

According to the HOF selection rules he should be in but since he was a historic ******* he's not.

He wasn't a bad guy or had any legal problems etc.. But he killed locker rooms.

If it was up to me he'd be in but I completely understand why he's not.

Way to go TO, remind people why the writers like to keep cancers out of the hall, give them more reason

Talented as hell, dumb as ****

Seriously, maybe TO is mental. Why else would he behave this way now and late in his career?

He should be in. Definite over Kurt warner. He's in top 5 of every WR stat. Can't say the same for Warner or Lady Tomlinson. But TO is an *******, so feck him. Lol.

Did he forget about being kicked off the Eagles?
