"The football gods weren't smiling on us," team president Bill Polian said as his team's locker room emptied. "The one guy with two bad legs (Nick Harper) picks up the fumble. Anybody else, maybe he goes all the way."

Are you kidding me? The "football gods" ovreturn the pick that would have sealed the game. Those same "football gods" had Bettis fumble on the goal line with 1:30 left in the game.

WTF are the "football gods" exactly suppose to do...make Manning fly over everone on the field like Keanu Reeves in the Matrix.

I think the "gods" did about all they could to help.

Polian...give it up!!!

just a poor, poor, deluded soul

As much as I don't want Manning to win a Super Bowl, it's the d!ckweek Polian who I want to not make it more.

Don't forget the safety on Manning. They were lucky not to lose those 2 points to the Steelers.

Polian = Little Lord Fauntleroy

He gets everything handed to his team the past two years.

.....and then this whine.

The biggest spoiled brat in American Sports.

To borrow from The Brushback:

“I’m not making any excuses for this loss, but the Colts could have done a little more to make it easier on me,†said God. “As the Bible says, I help those who help themselves. Tony Dungy is a great coach, but what the hell was he thinking late in the game? Talk about a brain fart. And Manning tossed a couple balls right into coverage. What was I supposed to do, strike the defender down with lightning?â€

I would not be surprised at all if Polian goes to the Competition Committee this offseason and tries to make it illegal for any team to actually take the field when the Colts offense is on it.

What a pathetic joke they all are.

if i was polian, id be asking why the hell Harper turned back infield? if he just kept following the sideline he was going the distance..

2 Bad legs??

What's he doing on the field then????

That was the excuse???

If I were Polian I'd be asking WTF was I thinking when I gave this Manning stiff all Irsay's money and control of my NFL legacy.

They say a fish rots from the head down. That's the Colts in a nutshell. It all began with Polian and over time it has permeated the entire franchise.

Anyone catch Polian's interview on Mike & the Mad Dog on WFAN before the SD game? Classic.

He was talking about how they weren't going to get guys hurt and cost them the SB again. The Dog said something about injuries not being the reason you lost last year or to the Jets 41-0. Polian gets mad and say that yes it was. They only lost last year because Mathis was hurt (a 195 pound rush specialist surely would have shut down Dillion and then gone out on offese and scored points) and even better they lost the Jets game because 2 LBs were hurt.

You have to realize that all the breaks the Colts got didn't come from the Football Gods. They came from the officials whom Polian had already bought and paid for.

What he was really saying was that he couldn't find a way to pay off the Football Gods as well. Apparently the Football Gods don't support attempting to cheat your way to a title.

I know I'm a party pooper, but I too thought Harper should have gone all the way. Put a stutter step move on Rothlesburger than go around him on the sideline side of him.

Rothlesburger gets game MVP for that play. Do they coach that or was he just alert. He knew how to force Harper back toward the center of the field.

If you watch that play, you can see Ben run backwards after handing the ball off to Bettis. Looked liked the play was drawn up so that the QB would be in position to make that tackle in case of disaster.

Kinda of ironic...Cowher makes an playoff tactical coaching mistake(arguable), yet bailed himself out by designing the play so that Ben would be there to save his arse.

Can you imagine the screams for his head in P-burgh if Harper scores on that play and the Colts win the game?!!!

If Ben didn't get him, there was a TE(#84?) that had the angle on him and would have brought him down. Harper more than likely couldn't have outrun his wife on that play!

hey

This "cowher did the wrong thing" stuff needs to stop. He made the right call by going for the TD. If he just kneeled it down the dolts would have taken their timeout's (they had them all) and then after the squealers kicked the FG (if everything there went perfect) the dolts would get the ball back with a minute to go on the clock down by 6. If they go down the field quick and score (which they had done 2 drives earlier) then Cowher would be the goat for "playing not to lose the game". Also let's not forget that Bettis hadn't fumbled once this year and it is a 1 yard run for the squealers. He made the right call, it was just a freak play. Becuase if they score there the game is over!

Lightning does stike twice. Polian was GM of the Bills when Scott Norwood missed the game winning kick in the SB against he Giants.

Now Vanderjerk misses the game tying kick this week. Sometimes there is justice in this world.

well
