Reiss: Rodney "training and rehabbing" to play

Didn't expect anything else to be honest. It's Rodney Harrison were talking about, the least he was going to do was work his balls off and try to give it one more season.

Harrison's readying himself for return to New England

It’s no secret that the Patriots are in need of bolstering their secondary after the Asante Samuel-less unit gave up far too much real estate through the air in 2008, and help may be coming from an unlikely source. When SS Rodney Harrison tore his quadriceps muscle against the Broncos in Week Seven, the prevailing sentiment around the team was that the 36-year-old’s career was over. Things have changed. The word we’re now hearing is that Harrison has dedicated himself fully to his rehabilitation and appears primed to make a return to the gridiron. The fact that he’s a free agent shouldn’t be a hindrance to getting him back into the fold due to the mutual respect he and the organization hold for one another. He’s a good fit in the 3-4, which utilizes him both in coverage and as a nickel linebacker.

Just one more year Rodney. Go out as a champion.

I've learned MY lesson. Man knows where I live.

I really do think he'll come back. At 225 LBS he'll fit the situational SS/LB type of D that BB has serious wood thinking about. Hope Tank has it in him, too. 2009 could be a 'Perfect Storm' D with just some help at CB and LB and safety depth thru the draft and FA.

Would love to seem him come back as well, how about Tank Williams.. we never even saw him play a down, could Rodney add depth along with him??
I was at the first preseason game, but I sneezed and missed his entire Patriot career to date.

Rodney has made a career out of proving people wrong who underestimated him. I will never bet against Rodney.

Here's to Rodney coming back for another year and go out with another ring!

If Harrison wants to be play and can pass a physical, there is no question that he is still good enough to be our #4 or #8 or #9 DB. No one knows how much he has left. My suspicion is that if he is willing to the rehab time, he can start or can share time with our Day One draftee. I would rather have Harrison than James Sanders in such a role.

Mine too, but how much does he have left? I wish he could play on this team forever but that's obviously impossible.

He's had some major injuries and I hope that he isn't wrecking his body, there is life after football.

Rodney may be the most important player on this defense and it would be a great story for all of the older players to go out with a ring but I just don't want them to be one of these players that doesn't know when to hang em' up.

Luv the guy, I just hope he makes a well thought out and informed decision.

Man, I love Rodney and he has had some major injuries the last few years but it shows his heart, drive and love of football to come back after all of them.

Did we expect him to nap in between tee times? ;)
