The New England Patriots now have all of their picks from the 2014 NFL Draft signed. Dominique Easley, the 29th pick in the draft and the Pats first round selection signed his contract today it has been reported by multiple sources.
With Easley and the other eight draft picks under contract, the Patriots can enter the month before training camp starts on July 24 with little of the drama that 2013 held.
While terms of the deal were immediately announced, Easley's signing bonus according to Phil Perry from CSSNE falls in line with the new Collective Bargaining agreement and will be four years in length with a team option for a fifth year. The NFL and NFLPA have frozen rookie signing bonuses at their 2013 values, Easley will get $3,631,672 as the No. 29 pick.
With the new CBA, there has been little haggling or drama in regards to rookie contracts. The only hold-up in the Easley deal was supposedly the language in the injury-protection section of his contract.
Easley missed most of OTA's and Mini-camp this spring while recovering from his second ACL tear, suffered last season while a member of Florida. He did make an appearance in the final day of mini-camp last Thursday as a limited participant wearing a full protective sleeve over his right leg. Easley appeared to have the explosion and burst that he is noted for in the small window of opportunity that the media was able to witness.
Miguel of PatsCap.com has the following information listed under Easley's contract. The contract that was signed was a four year deal worth $7,281,045 dollars. The years of 2014, 2015, and 2016 are fully guaranteed and Easley will receive a yearly bonus payment of $907,918 over the full four-years of the deal.
In other related news the Patriots signed offensive lineman Chris Martin and UDFA out of Central Florida today as well. That brings the roster total to 90, the maximum allowed by league rules.
